Macy's might not be a bad place to register for things like cake knives and champagne flutes - they will probably have a better selection then say bed bath and beyond.
I second Macy's or maybe Crate and Barrel? I registered there for really nice toasting flutes.....and I would recommend having a smaller list of registry gifts, so that they will *hopefully* all be purchased for your shower, and then people will get the hint to give cash for the wedding (since there is nothing left to purchase!) Around here, I've found people normally give cash for wedding gifts anyway.
Couples don’t register for shower and wedding gifts separately (atleast no one I know ever did). If guests want to buy a tangible gift for your wedding then they will reference your registry though, in my circle, monetary gifts are mostly given for the actual wedding.
Most department stores will carry the things you’re looking for. We registered at Macys (as well as BB&B) and they had a decent selection of wedding related stuff.
Macys! They have Lenox ( glass and metal ones) in a few different sets as well as All crystal ones in Clear and Purple!
I had a friend who after her shower delether their registries to encourage money for wedding. And in my case it worked, I returned to the site to purchaseA gift for wedding day and when it was gone I decided not to go from memory and gave them a check instead.
So if everything doesn't get purchased You could go that route.
Another good thing about Macy's is their Registry Rewards program. If you take part in this, you get 5% back of the purchases on a gift card about 4-6 weeks after the wedding (and an additional 10% if you have a Macy's card). That was a big selling point for us.

Hello Bees! A little advice needed. I'd like to have a registry for my shower but were not having one for our actual wedding gifts (were hoping to encourage guests to give cash gifts to hopefully go towards our future fertility expenses which I just found out I will be needing). First question is can I even do that? lol. Next question is where would be the best website to register at. I'd like to register for things such as the champagne flutes, cake knives, ect. which are not really in the budget. What are your thoughts or suggestions? Thanks!
