I was wondering where should I block rooms for our wedding. I was planning getting ready at my mom’s work thats in the town I live, she work at hotel. Do I block rooms there, or near the ceremony or the reception. The ceremony is about 20mins from my town and the reception is about 35 mins from my town.

Yes, you should block rooms. Make sure, though, that the hotel will not make you pay for rooms in your block that no one books. Pick a hotel near the ceremony and reception.

Definitely set up a room block for your guests – make sure you are not responsible for any of the rooms, that you get a 4 week cut off date at minimum (the date that the rooms are held aside until), find out if discounted rates will be available after that date to your guests or not and book them near the reception.
Most guests would rather drive farther to get to the ceremony at the beginning of the day that after the reception ends.

Near the reception will probably be the most convenient for your guests. If you’re having an evening reception, I doubt guest will want to drive very far late at night. They’ll probably be exhausted from all the partying. I don’t really see any reason for the guest to be close to where you are getting ready.

It’s best to get something near the reception area, especially if there is drinking. You don’t want out of town guests driving across town after having a few or more beverages. I’m planning on blocking off rooms in a hotel about a mile away so that people can take a cab for cheap–if you can make that happen then that would be best for everyone.
