I think the best ones are on Maoming Nan Lu (close to Huai Hai Lu 茂名南路, 近淮海中路) and Changle Lu (长乐路). They’ve got some really beautiful ones. They’re also probably the most expensive ones, and harder to negotiate down in price. You could also go to the custom tailor market, at Lu Jia Bang Lu Fabric Market (陆家浜路面料市场). It’s hundreds of vendors selling custom tailored clothes. You can choose the fabric and style you’d like and it’s much easier to barter. You don’t have to even get the qipao done in traditional fabric. I’ve had some done in velvet, chiffon, and even one in white lace.
