I (hubby) got my studs (.51 each) on Blue Nile. I wanted to be able to choose the 4 Cs that I wanted and Blue Nile delivered 🙂 I am sure you can find a better bargain at either a mall-type jewler such as Zales, or perhaps on Overstock. I always browse when I’m in a jewelry store and I can’t say I’ve found anything of similar quality/better price than Blue Nile. I also love that one can trade up later on BN.

My FI got me a set of diamond stud earrings from a local jeweler and they are gorgeous! I think each is about 1/4 carat but the setting they are in a unique textured bezel setting that makes them look much larger! Our local jeweler has this neat thing where you can trade in your earrings for a larger set and just pay the difference. So we started out with the smallest set they had, then we upgraded during a time they had a big sale and only paid about $40 for earrings that costover $200 more than the original pair! 🙂

I wanted a carat in each ear so I cheated and got moissanite.  I love them.  The stone is a little moody, so I didn’t want it in my e-ring, but it is perfect for my ears!

Don’t know if I’m too late to answer this, but I have 1/2 carat in each ear (princess cut). I got them from Andrew’s Jewelers. When I’m ready, I can upgrade to 3/4 carat each OR 1 carat each, paying the difference.
