Idonowidont.com seems like a good option for pre-owned rings!

leisha606:  Try websites like eBay (you can filter the settings for rings that come with their certificates), exboyfriendjewelry.com, pawn shops (although it’s unlikely they have their certificates), Kay.com has a Previously Owned Treasures section, and try haveyouseenthering.com which has pre-owned engagement rings and other jewelry for sale.

If you’re ok with a B&M chain store (I know opinions vary on that), call up a Zales near you and ask if they’ll have a Trunk Sale (pre-owned pieces that still fall under the Zales warranty and diamond bond) soon.  My FI and I had picked a setting out at Zales and were considering a smaller center stone to keep our costs down, when we went back to see it there was a Trunk Sale going on.  FI was able to scoop up the same setting at less than 1/2 price, plus a center stone that was of a better quality and twice the size while still coming in under budget!  Since he saved so much, he actually added some custom work to make the ring even more “ours”… With all of that done, the ring appraises for three times what he spent and twice our original budget.

leisha606:  Hi, my FI got me an estate ring (which was exactly what I wanted)! We live in NYC so most of the stores I know are here, but these also have online:

Erica Weiner

Doyle & Doyle

Erstwhile Jewelry Co.

It kind of depends on the style you want. I wanted something from the art deco era (40s). If you live in or near NYC I can give you more names, he actually went to a little hole in the wall place but they don’t have a website.

leisha606:  I would like to know where you get a decent 2 ct diamond for 10 grand?? I was looking at buying a loose one from the online retailers and a 1.5 carat with alright specs ( nothing spectacular ) was atleast that.

leisha606:  I’d check out Idonowidont.com, Rubylane, may get lucky on Etsy or Ebay.  I agree with checking with B & M stores for their trunk sales.

leisha606:  I would look at the specs of a diamond that cheap when you have a larger stone it is easier to see imperfections. 2 cts I would want a pretty clean diamond.

I would definitely suggest you checkout some pawn shops. My SO and I found my soon to be E-ring at a pawn shop. I tried on both a one carat and a 2 carat solitaire. They were both under $2000. I went with the one carat because the setting had the perfect low profile. There were even Tacori and Verragio rings WAY below their normal prices. Happy shopping, I can’t wait to see what you get!
