Hmmm...I was going to suggest Katherine's in Alexandria - they are super nice and have a pretty big selection. I'm not sure what their selection is like for dresses under $1,000, but I don't think it would hurt to call and ask!

I liked TLC in Frederick. They definitely carry gown under 1000 dollars. You might also try I Do I Do in Gaithersburg. Theya are a bridal consignment shop but also sell new gowns. When I was there a saw a girl trying on a bunch of gowns that would be appropriate for a DW.
I got mine from I Do I Do Wedding Gowns in Gaithersburg, MD. They were excellent. They asked me for my price range and didn't show me stuff over it or try to scam me. The ladies that work there are awesome and prices are reasonable. They offer off-the-rack, made-to-order, and consignment gowns. I was suprised that the consignment gowns are usually the most expensive because a lot of them are designer gowns marked down substantially (in the high $1000s to $2500 range, which is still a lot less than the $5000 they originally cost). I got my dress for $1200 and there were many in that range and below.

i second I DO I DO bridal in gaithersburg. they also have new gowns for cheaper prices than other stores. awesome customer service. ask for KRISTY she is super super friendly and really gets to the point.

Hello,
I am currently looking for a gown for my wedding in Jamaica. Any ideas where to buy a gown in the MD/VA/DC vicinity? I would like to keep costs at or below $1000.
