I hope you guys can help me out a bit.
We’re having an outdoor park ceremony and reception and I am absolutely stuck on getting my FI and his groomsmen to be dressed as similar to these men as possible. The photos are from turnercreative.net
I’m having trouble finding vests like these. I know that the couple found these vests in a resale shop (I believe) or somewhere unconventional. I’d love to try to find this knit look rather than just dress vests that are found with a tux, per say. I want it to be obvious that they do not have jackets—I don’t want it to appear that they just have an unfinished outfit…if you get what I mean 🙂 Any ideas?? Anyone done this??
I know the groom’s shirt is JCrew and those are dockers but where do I find a vest like this?? I’ve always had this thing for period films just to see men in the 1700-1800’s with their vests and sometimes “poofy” sleeves, LOL. I’d love it if I could incorporate some vintage-ness into my groom 🙂 He’s all for it…

I haven’t done it, but maybe try Express? Or American Eagle? Or possibly even Etsy. com…
I honestly am not sure, just throwing some names out there…

The vests are not a knit-they are a Glen plaid-likely wool vest.
You probably would find racks of them at the Goodwill.
J Crew had a model out about 3 years ago.
Here is a striped, not plaid, version:

If all else fails, you could choose the wool fabric of your choice and sew them or have someone do it for you. It is a very easy pattern to make.

We found ours at Men’s Wearhouse even though salesmen and 2 different stores told us that they didn’t carry gray vests! As soon as they realized we weren’t going to buy a full suit they ignored us and didn’t want to help us, but we searched 2 stores and found ones we liked. It’s crazy how different men’s stores are from women’s. In any women’s store they’d be all over us trying to help us find what we needed and calling other stores. Anyway, after a lot of drama we found what we needed.

Hey thanks guys!!! I was thinking maybe that was maybe wool or similar. If this couple found theirs at a thrift store too, I guess I probably could too 🙂
Thanks for all the suggestions!!!!!!!
