You can definitely spend a few days in Barcelona. There is a lot to see there!
Valencia is just south of Barcelona and East of Madrid. Where will you be flying into? Could you fly into Madrid (probably cheaper) and spend a day or two there and then on Barcelona for the cruise? Valencia is great but I think if you were flying into Madrid, it would be silly to go to Valencia and then to Barcelona.
My vote is just do Madrid. If you want something quiet, look into Toledo which is just outside of Madrid but a great small town.
My friend just did a Mediterranean cruise, they stayed in the city where the cruise started so they could enjoy the area before the cruise left. I think Barcelona was actually where they stayed and they found a great hotel very close to the port.
you'll need a few days in paris - at least three. and rent an apartment when u travel thro my paris apartment.com or the like. cheap and private. and take one near the Metro only!

Im trying to finalize our honeymoon plans. We're getting married on a saturday and our amazing cruise doesnt leave spain until thursday. We'd like to go somewhere for sunday-thursday. Our cruise is Barcelona, Spain; Villefranche (Nice), France; Livorno (Florence/Pisa), Italy; Civitavecchia (Rome), Italy; Piraeus (Athens), Greece; Kusadasi (Ephesus), Turkey; Santorini, Greece; Naples, Capri, Italy; Barcelona, Spain
So our most budget friendly spots for the first few days are Barcelona, Madrid, and Paris. (at least those are the ones Ive thought of so far)
Anyone have an input to sway us one way or another, or a brilliant place I havent thought of?
