Alright, so I’m an amateur photographer who likes to photograph friends and family as a hobby. I have a friend who wants me to photograph her family and I don’t know where to take them. I’m looking for a nice park, forest, hilly area or meadow. Nothing that’s too public. I like to be inspired by nature. Does anyone living in North San Diego county or South Orange County have any suggestions? I just moved here and don’t know the area too well. Thanks!

Hmm the first thing that comes to my mind is the Torrey Pines State Park. It’s in Del Mar on the northern side of San Diego – you can get some shots that aren’t too populated. You’re not going to find anything resembling a “meadow” in that part of Californiw – it’s a desert – but there are some great more rural parks in the canyons if you go inland a bit. If you’re daring, you could also go to Joshua Tree National Park before the summer hits. Balboa Park also has some great gardens, but that’s a little more south than I think you want to go (and there would obviously be a lot more people there.

There’s always the beach! There are some areas between San Diego and Orange County that are more like camping spots and would be a bit less crowded, but obviously there are beaches everywhere! There are also tons of hiking spots…Iron Mountain, Rancho Penasquitos Preserve, Tecolote Canyon…
I know more of San Diego than OC…let me know if you want any other options.

South OC you can take pics at the Mission San Juan Capistrano. There is also the Mission San Louis Rey in North County SD. The missions have nice gardens.

Balboa Park used to be nice and it is close to the zoo and museums. I haven’t been there for years though, so it may have changed.
