We are getting married on 4/3/2010 & planning to leave for our honeymoon the next day! We’d like to go for two weeks but we’re having trouble deciding on a place! We like to be adventurous. I’m a huge fan of cruising but the FI doesn’t enjoy them as much because he likes to explore places. I thought of maybe doing a 1 week cruise and 1 week at a specific location but would it be too much time to travel in between the places… or maybe 1 week in Paris & 1 in the Greek Isles since you can take a ship throughout the islands, or just two weeks in one amazing place I don’t know! Maybe there is some awesome place that I’m not even thinking of that’s great for April, help me bees!

Tahiti or Fiji would be gorgeous! Also, I would recommend South Africa! I lived there for 2 years, its amazing and you can definately spend two weeks jumping from Johannesburg to Durban to Cape Town!….or East Africa – Kenya/Tanzania, Zanibar!

I think spending time in Europe and then taking a cruise of some sort sounds like a good compromise. Because of how close some of the stops are, there isn’t as much time on the boat- which is a positive or negative depending on what you like. Any of your options sounds like a fabulous trip though!

Thanks hive!! I really appreciate your input!
@Mrs2theDr Oooo.. I didn’t even think of South Africa, I’ll look into it!

You should look into the weather at all those locations before you decide– I’ve been to both Paris and Santorini (the most beautiful place in the world) and Mykinos in Greece– but in April any of those places probably won’t be warm enough for you to get in the water anywhere–
A word of advice: if you do go to Greece, don’t plan more than 1-2 days in Athens– maybe fly in and stay a day to see the acropolis, and then hit the islands! And you MUST go to Santorini, MUST! When I said it was the most beautiful place, i was serious– rent a moped on the island– tour the wineries– eat dinner in Oia at a rooftop restaurant while the sun sets– take a boat tour around the culdera — take a walk on the volcano in the center of the culdera (technically active)– take a dip in the natural hot springs (from the volcano)– maybe even visit the archelogical site some think is Atlantis
Good luck! And no matter where you go, you can be adventurous– just take a look at the honeymoon plans of Miss Cowboy Boot “New Zealand or Bust”, that’s adventure!

you can combine some cruising and islands in Fiji…. there are some smaller boats that do the Yasawa group so you can still get off to get to know the locals

Greece! I think it would be so beautiful, and not too hot in April.

I think pretty much anywhere in April is good! I married the x in the end of April and we had one week in Florida followed by a cruise to the bahamas and it was all good!~
April is a gorgeous month! I’d do something coastal or carribbean. If you want somewhere like Costa rica though, I’d find out what their rainy season is if you want to really enjoy outdoor activities and the rain forest as I had a friend (she and her H) went on their honeymoon there and booked it WITHOUT finding out when the rainy season was and they spent it indoors half the time. But sometimes a honeymoon indoors is a good thing right???? winkey wink!

I was in Paris in the beginning of May this year and it was cooooold! And rainy!!!

To add to what another poster said about Athens: definitely don’t waste a lot of time there. It’s so dirty.
Hmm… how would you feel about a whole European adventure? Start in London travel to Paris and go from there? Spain, Italy or Germany… or where ever else you want to go! There are trains going everywhere & you can find round trip flights for peanuts. I spent time in Berlin last year & found roundtrip tickets to Rome & Paris for less than $200 USD each!

Thanks for the tips girls!! I have been hearing that the weather wouldn’t really be optimal for Paris at that time, but I’m definitely not turning down the whole European adventure! The only thing I’m worried about is it seeming to crammed full of stuff that we don’t have any time to relax! We went to Italy for 2 weeks the year before last and it was absolutely amazing but we still didn’t even feel like we saw everything and that was one country!!!

I would go to Greece. In April the weather should be gorgeous. There’ll be lots for you both to do but you’ll also be able to have a lovely dinner and be the newlyweds you are without worrying that you’re missing out on the country 😉
Although I love Fiji (I’m half Fijian!) I’d be hesitant to go in April. Don’t forget that it’s their winter around that time and the weather can be dodgy at best. Just my 2 cents.

I’m getting married in April 2010 and we’re going for a tour of Italy, but Greece is a great choice! Cities are better when it’s not absolutely roasting hot, April should be bright and breezy.

@Starbit Awwww… you’re going to have an amazing time in Italy, we absolutely loved it. That would have been our first choice if we hadn’t already been there. Make sure you spend some quality time in Venice!! 😀
We’re definitely leaning towards Greece for the two weeks…I started looking into it pretty heavily yesterday and it seems amazing. We’re thinking 2 days in Athens, 4 days in Mykonos, 4 days in Santorini, & a 4 day Cruise to a couple different Isles & Turkey! If we pull it off…. oh! so excited!
