I need help! I’m getting married July 26 (soon!) in Ohio and then fiance and I have to go to his cousin’s wedding on August 10th in Connecticut. So, we’ve got about two weeks in between. We’d like to go on a honeymoon sometime in those 2 weeks. The thing is, we’d kind of like to combine the two trips. Maybe do the honeymoon somewhere on our drive up to Connecticut or in Connecticut or somewhere not far from CT. So, do you guys have any suggestions? Maybe wineries or a beach spot? We’re open to anything. And since we’re driving to CT we’ll have our car so somewhere even beyond where his cousins wedding is (Weston, CT?) is ok. I really don’t know any good spots in the NE area since we’ve never been.

DH and I did a road trip of the northeast last year. We loved Maine! It was beautiful and the seafood was great 🙂

The White Mountains in NH are amazing in the summer…cooler nights, nice warm days. You could drive around Lake Winnepesauke, too. Or you could do something like drive up 91 through Mass, into Vermont, then take the Kancamagus across NH to Maine, then down the Maine coast, through NH and MA back to Connecticut. It would be a great way to see all of New England!

@peachacid My fiance proposed to me in the white mountains! That is a great place if you like hiking.
We have also done trips to bar harbor maine with tons of cute b&bs and bike riding in the acadia national park.
Or you could drive down to newport ri. Cute town, tons of stores, the cliff walk past the mansions (many which you can tour) which overlooks the beaches. Plus there are some wineries nearby.

Cape Cod in MA is a lovely choice for the beach. I do not recommend CT for going to the beach.

Newport, RI – mansions, lots of restaurants, beaches
North Shore (north of Boston)- Salem, Newburyport, Gloucester- all quaint seaside New England towns
I would take the two weeks and do a road trip.

lake winnepesaukee in new hampshire is my favorite place on earth. i adore it up there. my grandparents retired up there, and i can’t wait to go home in july and actually be able to spend time at the lake. there’s lots to do up there, lots of nature as well, and the beaches are lovely.

The White Mountains, Maine, Cape Cod…
Not sure how you feel about camping, but there’s a really nice campground at Pawtuckaway State Park, right on the lake, (near Raymond, NH) that I adore. We’ve been going every year for about 14 years now. There are bathrooms with showers, and you can even get spots with tiny little cabins if you want.
I wouldn’t recommend CT though. I went to college at UConn and lived in CT for 2 years after, and it wouldn’t be ideal for beachy or honeymoon-type adventures.
I like the idea of a NE road trip though! It’s small enough that you could make it work!

Newport, RI area is just lovely lovely lovely (so lovely I’m getting married there in 2 weeks, lol!) Also very close to CT. Another area in RI to check out would be Narragansett, RI…the south county area is just laid back beachy-ness.
Nantucket, MA or Martha’s Vineyard, MA (there is a passenger ferry from North Kingstown, RI to Martha’s Vineyard, which would save you a LOT of travel time driving to the other ferry up the cape. Cape traffic in the summer is abominable)
You could also take a ferry from CT to East Hampton, NY and explore The Hamptons a bit
