@The_Future_KB:  My husband & I had the same question. We didn’t go on a honeymoon though, we just didn’t know if we should go someplace nice for the night, like this bed & breakfast that we have dreamed of going to for quite some time now.

But, we ended up going home & I had no regrets because the cost of one night at a bed & breakfast is stupid when we lived 30 minutes from the venue, & also because I was starving & exhausted by the time the wedding was over & the stress had subsided. Going home might seem”anticlimatic” in theory right now, but I think you will be a lot more comfortable & happy that you went home when it’s all said & done.

my venue gives us the honeymoon suite as part of our package for our wedding night.

does your venue do that?

We are staying at a hotel the night of our wedding because we are not going away for a honeymoon because my FH is a teacher and can’t get the time off.  If you did want to stay at a hotel for the night you could always drop your suitcase off at the hotel before the wedding and have the staff bring your luggage up to the room that way it will be there for you when you get there.

We stayed in the hotel.  Most hotels require that you check out at 12:00 p.m. and that seemed way too hectic on my wedding day.  Plus, we weren’t even done getting ready until much later.

Probably at home. Then we don’t have to worry about packing a bag, checking into a hotel late at night with said bags, and having to wake up on time for a checkout. Home is just… easier.

We leave for our honeymoon 3 days after the wedding.

We went home. It felt SO awesome to sleep in our own bed and have a stress-free time packing up.

I’d say just go home.

Our flight for our honeymoon departs about 5 hours after the wedding is over and will be about an hour or so drive from the wedding.  We are staying in a hotel near the venue the night before the wedding.  We have a limo taking us to the hotel to change and grab our luggage, and then take us to the airport.  Didn’t want to drive because we’ll be drinking all day during the reception…lol.

Needless to say, we won’t be getting much sleep, and we’ll arrive at our destination by 3pm the next day, settle in to our villa, and probably stay in the first night to catch up on sleep LOL

How far are you from the airport? What I would do if I were you would be to have the car packed up and ready to go, and then drive from the reception to a nice hotel near the airport. This way you can have the “hotel experience” AND sleep in the next day and not have to worry about rushing in the AM.

@The_Future_KB:  It depends. If you’d just end up at a motel 8, then, yeah, head on home. 🙂 If you want the ambiance of a swanky hotel, then stay at one!

oh, and to answer your question, we’re staying in a hotel. We live 2 and a half miles from our venue (in another state. XD) so hotel it is! Then we’ll have brunch with our relatives who are still in town, drive home, and decompress for a day. Then we’ll havea  day to get packed for our (camping) honeymoon and get any last minute items purches, and head out the next day. I am SO glad we have a little time to breathe between the wedding and honeymoon!!!

I think we’re just going to go home. It’s not likely that either one of us will be trashed (I might be tipsy, but FI will only have one drink) and our apartment isn’t that far away from the venue. We thought about taking FMIL up on her offer to get us a room at the hotel down the street, but then we’d have to pack ANOTHER bag and check out, etc. We’re leaving in the morning for our minimoon, so we might as well just go home anyway, since we’re just going to have to go home and stop by the bank, which is by our apartment.
