I’ve had my dress for a year, so it is wrinkly now… where do you take your dress to get it steamed before your wedding (not cleaned after — but just steamed before)? A dry cleaner??
I’m petrified to take it to the wrong place lol.

@inky_1: You could take it to a dry cleaner. I am not sure, but perhaps bridal shops can provide that service even if you didn’t buy it there? I don’t know, but worth a shot. I would take it there before a dry cleaner.

Does the bridal shop where you purchased it not offer this? You can also take it to the dry cleaner.

If you take to a dry cleaner stand there while they do it if possible. I heard too much horor stories about what they done to wedding dresses after the wedding so I don’t trust them.
Who did your alterations. the lady who did mine has a steam machine and did it for me. I trust would trust them more then the dry cleaner because they tend to deal with formal gowns and wedding dresses mainly so they know what they are doing.

The bridal shop that I bought the dress from is an hour away, so not ideal. My fiance’s aunt did the alterations, but she does not have a steam machine.
I do have a steam machine – someone lent me one – I’ll give it a try on my own, but I’m afraid it won’t be enough/I’ll screw it up…so I wanted to know where to go if I can’t do it myself.

@inky_1: Are there any Bridal shops closer to home that you can take it to? Most shops that do alterations will do this for you and I’m sure if you explained the situation they would accomodate a steaming.
Personally, I wouldn’t take it to the drycleaners.
