We are spending the first two nights of our honeymoon at a log cabin B&B in Bethlehem in the White Mountains NH. This is the room that FI reserved for us along with truffles and champagne on our wedding night. I can’t wait!

@eocenia:  That’s lovely!  The lighting is romantic.

DH and I stayed at The Curtis in Denver.  The night was a gift from my Dad.  The night AFTER that we stayed in my husband’s childhood bedroom in a twin bed at my in-laws house because we had a gap between leases and we were leaving for the honeymoon the next day.  It was adventureous!

I do want to say, to brides who are planning where to go the night of the wedding, that wherever you go should be close.  We left our reception at 11 and had an hour’s drive to this “romantic” hotel.  “Boutique” really just meant small, which was fine because we were there for a night and were super tired anyway, but we could’ve gotten a fine, cheaper hotel MUCH closer.  For us, getting a super nice hotel room so did not matter in the end.

We’ll be staying at the hotel where our wedding is taking place. Hote venue gives couples a ‘complimetary’ suite for their wedding night. We’ll be leaving for our honeymoon in Turkey & Italy the next day!

Immediately after the wedding we will probably just go home. We own a beautiful house and have a cat so this just makes sense to me! We will leave for our honeymoon a couple days after the wedding so we will just be at home getting organized until then, and then drop our kitty off for babysitting at my parents house before we go, rather than bringing him back and forth for the wedding night/next few nights/then the honeymoon.

A fancy shmancy secret hotel location. In other words NO one from the wedding will be there since we want peace. We will stay there 2 nights then travel to a remote cottage for a few more days. No cell phones or internet.

@eocenia:  Aww me too! I love my cat. I once drive him 6 hours (round trip) to my grandma’s house for a weekend babysitting because my parents and sister (local) were also away that weekend. I don’t like leaving him alone overnight or with people I don’t trust fully. Haha yep I’m an overbearing cat mom.

@Swizzle:  Keep it a secret!  My best friend’s parents told people where they were staying and woke up to their car on blocks, no tires.  A “funny joke” courtesy of the groomsmen.

@eocenia:  We’ll be in Florence the entire week. I have family in Milan so I have spent a good amount of time in Italy and absolutely love it. Last trip FI and I spent in Rome & Tuscany (but not Florence). Never been to Turkey, but I have heard about this apple tea! Definitely on my list of things to try πŸ™‚

Your cottage sounds charming BTW!

@KatieColorado:  Ya exactly. I dont know why groomsmen do that or think its funny.  I’m not convinced my house wont be trashed when i get home, but at least we will have some peace and quiet for a day.

Our wedding night will be spent in our apartment.  We can’t afford a honeymoon.  :/
