I don't think so. I suppose if you can't make the reception you could just send the gift to their house, no?
Usually there isn't a gift table at the ceremony, only the reception. If you aren't going to make it to the reception, I would just send the gift to them.
Yeah, I'm with cvbee, I don't think they put a table at the ceremony because most people can go to both. I would just mail it to her and I'm guessing that's what most people would probably do--or deliver it after they return from the honeymoon? As for the reception, make sure it's not near the front door---gifts can walk out with legs if someone doesn't have a watchful eye :(
I think that instead of just giving money in the card box sometimes people opt to buy the bride & groom a gift instead. Our gift table is going to have the gift card box on it as well for those that want to just leave a card, but it is going to positioned right next to the escort card table. That way if people are carrying boxes they can set them down as soon as they come in the room. I'm thinking that people that came to the shower and have access to your registries will be most likely to bring a gift. I noticed on my registry some things were bought that I didn't receive at the shower (like china), so I'm assuming that they bought it as a wedding gift and will give it to us at the reception.
Oops! I'm with everyone else - if you can't make it to the reception just mail it to them. Otherwise someone is going to have to carry it around for you to the reception.
