How lovely with a 3 week trip! I’m not sure where you’re situated now, but if you do decide to visit Scandinavia you should look into flying with Iceland Air. I’m from Sweden and it’s really my favourite route home from Canada (where I live). First of all, it’s only 5 hours between Toronto and Reykjavik, and then another 3 hours to Stockholm. Second, they allow free stay overs for up to 6 days so you can stay there for a few days = minimize the jetlag, swim in warm pools, go horseback riding… it’s great! Now, Norway WILL be expensive – so perhaps you could skip that part and only do Sweden and Denmark? You could also head over to Finland for a short while, there a cheep flights and the southern part of Finland is beautiful. If that’s too much of a detour, keep in mind that Denmark is tiny, so you can always add Germany or the Netherlands to your agenda. If you have any questions about what to do while in Scandinavia – feel free to ask along. I should be able to provide a lot of suggestions at least for Sweden! Oh, and considering the time you would go there – it will be light 24/7 up in the north, you really shouldn’t miss out on that!

As for Turkey/Greece. I’ve vacationed in both countries and Greece was by far my favourite. Lots to see of course, the islands are beautiful and hopefully things will not be too dried up that early in the season.

Now – if I could go anywhere for 3 weeks at that time of the year… I think I would start with Croatia, head up through Slovenia to Austria and finish off in Switzerland. However, that’s partly because those are some of the few countries I’ve not been to in Europe. And partly because my husbands family on his dads side comes from Slovenia and he has always wanted to go and see it.

I’ve gone on several 3+ week vacations.  My first choice was New Zealand and Austrailia because it was so far that you just have to have 3+ weeks to cover a lot of ground.  So the first chance we were able to get 4 weeks off we went there.  Then we did Italy and Switzerland cause Ive always wanted to go to Italy (then tacks on Switzerland cause it looked beautiful, and it certainly did not disappoint.)  We went to Iceland for 18 days also, but it certainly doesnt need that long so I wouldn’t do that for 3 weeks.  (But it is totally worth visiting) I also went to Thailand & Camobodia, which was amazing as well.  Next on the list of 3 week trips is Greece & Jordan and/or Turkey for us.

sophielle:  I would go to Asia – I think that would be amazing. If it were earlier in the year I would do Australia/New Zealand – I have not been back since I left in 2008

sophielle:  I agree, 3 weeks is perfect.  For one month ones I was definitely ready to just go home and relax by the 4th week!  My friend was living in Europe for 3 years went 40 countries in Europe and she said her favorite was definitely Turkey if that helps too.

Southeast Asia!!!!  Thailand, Vietnam, and/or Bali.  It’s really inexpensive, gorgeous, so easy to be a traveler, people are so friendly, the food is to die for… basically paradise.

I would be boring and stay in the states for a cross-country road trip.

sophielle: I just checked Iceland Airs website, you can get one stop-over ticket Montreal-Reykjavik-Stockholm for just over $600. I’m sure you can get a good package price if you go through a travel agent. For flights within Scandinavia, compare the prices between SAS and Norwegian. I always go with SAS, but that’s for the points, Norwegian is way cheaper sometimes.

i guess it depends on how active do you want to be as well. do you want to live out of a backpack (like i did across Australia / SE Asia) or live in a beachhouse for a few weeks (like I did in Turks & Caicos). For our honeymoon its a toss up between Egypt/Jordan or chilling at my a friends house in Trinidad and scuba diving everyday. I guess it all depends on your mood and what you really want to see/do. I would love to see Turkey/Greece as well. I think that would be fantasic. honestly, with so much to see and do and experience in this world, you cannot go wrong with either pic!

I would go to Italy! There’s enough history across the whole country to spend at least two weeks just sightseeing. But there are also great beaches and islands where you could spend some time relaxing. Italy can be expensive, but it can also be done at a reasonable price.

sophielle:  yeah i dont blame you at all! its so much nicer to enjoy your honeymoon and de-stress on a relaxing beach-like vacation – with some sight seeing thrown in! i am kinda leaning towards the same way!
