I'll Start:
I grew up in 4-H and have been actively involved for 20 years. I am a camp counselor and am a club leader in West Virginia. I credit my involvment in 4-H to many of the reasons that I am who I am. I am a better public speaker, I am more social and find myself happier overall when I am at 4-H functions.
4-H is HUGE in West Virginia as we have one of the strongest programs in the nation. Our camps are largly attended and our 4-Hers are smart, passionate and well rounded.
I had never heard of 4-H until I started researching culinary camps. I attended at UNL for 3 years. They some great 4-H summer camps in tons of different things like culinary, filmmaking, and fashion design. I was definitely impressed with them, and the friends I made there will be my lifelong friends. We speak almost everyday, even though we all live so far apart. Here's a link if anyone's interested.
I was in 4-H!
The projects I took most often were dog, cat, rabbit, horse, swine, bovine, painting, cooking, sewing. I went to 4-H camp every year when I was in grade school (I was still active in 4-H in high school, just didn't go to camp any more).
Hands-down, my most involved project was dog project. I never missed a year. Every single Sunday afternoon during my 4-H career was dedicated to dog club meeting/practice (obedience, agility, and showmanship). I went to the state dog club meeting every year; and I was on the state dog comittee for 2 terms.
Yup, 10 years. County queen and went to National 4-H Congress. Did a lot of cooking and sewing, but showed rabbits for many years. I also showed sheep and goats for a few years, too.
I was, but only for two glorious years (7-8 years old.) Sewing, cake-decorating, conservation, and another wildlife-related topic. My kids are SO doing 4-H!
I was!!! :) While I grew up in a rural area, I lived in a track home development, so no room for raising any animals other than rabbits. I totally did ceramics and sewing though! :)
It was a great compliment to being a Girl Scout as well! I'd love it if my daughter was involved growing up here!
I was totally in 4-H. I grew up in a small town in Central California. I never did the animal stuff, but my cousins had cows and pigs and used to show them at all of the local fairs. I was involved in the arts and crafts and sewing, scrapbooking and cooking. And my mom is a super creative, artsy person...I used to win a lot of contests because she "helped" me a lot. So bad! Haha.
This is strange because I was actually just wondering the other day if anyone on here was in 4-H!
I was in 4-H for over 10 years then after I finished (it was too much for me to be in school graduating, in the fire dept, in 4-H and have a relationship with my now FI...he begged for me to stay in 4H though) I became a leader. It's pretty awesome, and I can't wait to have a little one to put in that program!

I was just curious if there are any present and former 4-Hers out here on Weddingbee.
Are you still active as a camp counselor or club leader?
What is the 4-H program like in your state?
