I am getting mine from the cupcake baker. I think you can rent them, too. (I think they are made of plexi)
This was our cupcake stand for my shower. One of my bridesmaids borrowed it from her mom who actually got it from Target. I've seen mini versions of this at Target as well... Don't know if this was the vibe you were going for though.

This one on etsy is wood, nicely detailed, and available in any wedding colors!
Also, you could do a variety of cake stands - they don't have to be tiered! They would look cool and eclectic being all different kinds.
1. rental available in Denville,NJ

3. some larger ones here
@twocatcupcake: you know I never thought to look on etsy, and I'm on there all day! :P That wasn't quite what I was looking for, but I have definitely found them now! Maybe even getting some ideas on how to DIY this
so pretty!
julies: ah thanks for the links, some of those are really nice too! Some of those rental prices are the same as buying :\ I'll bookmark them though, thanks!
I just got a few plate racks at Target, they were $10 each so $30 total! They are more "reusable" than cupcake stands too, for fruit or brunch items.
Here's what they look like with cupcakes on:

I want to find or make a fancier one than the ones I see online, which are all cardboard or the individualized ones. I'd like to have the big tower cake, but I want something that looks a little nicer than the cardboard (I still don't like them when theyre fancied up with ribbon). Anyone have any ideas? I thought about using just a bunch of cake stands, but they don't get big enough on the bottom, so I'm stumped! Any creative solutions?
