I don’t know if I should be in panic mode, but I ordered my dress in October. They told me it would be here late March, early April. Then they said mid-April. That turned into the end of April, then the begining of May. Then it was the Tuesday after Queen Vicotria day. That holiday came a left. Then it was the end of May. Tomorrow is May 31 and when I called them today they said, " No later than Tuesday". I have been hearing the same tune since April. I have been patient and very polite. Almost too polite. If I didn’t have a lot of alterations to do I wouldn’t be so worried, but I am actually turning my a-line dress into a mermaid dress, adding buttons, and shorting the train. And this is all assuming that the thing will fit when it comes. (Fingers crossed please)
They also told me not to order my veil or my shoes until the dress comes so I can feel out what looks good.
Is it me or is this just a little too close for comfort.

I say it’s time to stop being a nice girl and get to the bottom of what’s really going on. I’d call and be very firm yet polite and tell them in no uncertain terms that you expect your dress to be there Tuesday, no matter what. . .
Do you have in writing a time for the dress to be delivered to you? That would be a big help in demanding answers & demanding for your dress to be produced.

Hmm… that’s very maddening. I’d ask them to follow-up with email after every conversation and save everything. If it’s any consolation, my seamstress is not going to alter my dress until June 20th for a July 18th wedding. She wants my body to be in the exact shape it will be in for the wedding, and wasn’t daunted by the amount of alterations.
Put your foot down and don’t take "later" as the answer anymore. Best of luck!

Get your butt down there and see what is going on! The fact that it’s not even IN yet should worry you. It’s not like they’re working on the alterations right now!
For your trouble they should throw in your veil I say. I bet they can’t wait for the last minute so you HAVE to buy their $200 overpriced tulle thing. Honestly, you do NOT have to wait to buy shoes/veil, that’s retarded. White is white and nobody is going to know the difference, I promise! Go try on similiary style mermaid dresses and pick out a veil you like, then order it online. Order shoes in the height you like. I hate that whole "they have to be cut from the same fabric" thing. It’s such a gimmick
I’d tell them you want a definite HERE by date or they better find a way to seriously compensate because their business courtesies and customer service is lacking and you are feeling strung along and don’t want to hear on July 1 that there is zero dress
LoL if you’re completely SOL, PM me and you can borrow my dress =D

I agree, and if you have a contract I would threaten legal action! Who do they think they are? Have they even given you a reason? I’m be so upset.

I agree with everyone above, time to stand up and let them know that they should be more sensitive to the issue! Also as far as the veil and shoes go did you try on a sample dress and if you did is it the same color as your dress? You would think the gals would know what veil and shoes go well with your dress. I already ordered my veil for my wedding in October and they said it usually takes 4-6 weeks to arrive. Since they told you to wait I am sure they will tell you they have to have it rushed which as we know means a hefty price added on to the price of the veil. If they say that make sure you have them pay for it. Sorry that you are having to go through this! 🙁 Also, do you have to get it altered?

So it’s a week later: Did you get your dress yet? It’s not even my dress & I’m soooo antsy to find out if you got it. I think you deserve a medal for your polite (Canadian) attitude. lol 😛
I just don’t understand what the hold up is!! October-June is completely unacceptable. May I ask where you purchased your dress & who is the designer?

Um, you may want to get intouch with some one way up the chain of command and let them know. This is actually a REALLY big deal and i would be flipping if i was you

I hope you got the dress. I can’t believe it took so long for you to get it.

Well Ladies, the dress is here. I got my fitting the Friday before last. The fitting was the most rushed experience ever. After she went through everything it was going to be another $230 for alterations (GLUP! Thats a lot of money). But I just wanted to get everything over and done with.
My second fitting was on Monday. I gave them plenty of time, because they said with all the alterations ( I am turing the a-line dress into a trumpet skirt) they need time that way when I go on Monday everything would be finished.
Wrong, she took it in at the waist (which trust me I didn’t need it taken in at all) and she didn’t take it in enough it still looked like a aline dress.
After that fitting they told me it will be another $85 since they are taking it in from the back. I toldthem that I shouldn’t have to pay because I didn’t get what I was asking for. I was told they were taking it in from a different spot so that is a new charge.
All in all this dress is costing me wayyyyyy more than I bargined for.
My next fitting is next Tuesday. They better have everything done because it wil be just days before the Wedding.

@X- it sounds like they are trying to charge you for their incompetence and rush. I’d stand firm and demand that they charge no more for the alterations (at minimum) and maybe should comp you altogether for the alterations, since they left you backed into a corner.
Can you take the dress elsewhere? I know time is tight, but I’m cutting it close with my alterations too, and the seamstress is going to have them done by July 8th.
Good luck and stay strong!

I’m sorry your experience has been such a nightmare 🙁 Maybe ask for a discount by telling them detail by detail what they put you through!

I came late to this post, but I would most definitely say when push comes to shove, a girls gotta do what a girls gotta do.
