- Wedding: May 2012
If you’ve seen my posts, I’ve mentioned that I’m having an 80s/music themed wedding. (Most of the decor uses concert-style stuff and cassette tapes, and lots of neon.) Anyway, part of our reception includes performances by me with some members of the wedding party that I play with (they all sing, I write/play guitar). I don’t have a beautiful singing voice – I can carry a tune, but my voice is, well, unique. Regardless, I wanted to play a couple of songs for Fiance at the reception that were just me, because that seems more meaningful. I wanted one of my songs to be a romantic 80s song, but I’ve been having trouble finding the right one for ME. (I’m doing 3 songs alone, and 2 with each singer, making sure to include an 80s love song for each person.)
But I wasn’t using my brain, clearly. I was really overthinking “80s love song” instead of just scouring my musical influences for good picks that translate well acoustically.
Duh. I’m playing and singing “Eternal Flame” by the Bangles.
I should have thought of this weeks ago!
