I found this band online a few weeks ago and I am in love! I could actually order it direct from the Etsy seller, since it is the perfect width, the diamond specs are exactly the same as my engagement ring and it is available in palladium. Yay!
However, to make it in palladium would be a custom order, and then I would have to pay shipping plus 25% tax to import it into the UK (5% jewellery tax plus 20% vat). Not impossible, but pricy.
Fiance has given me the go ahead to get a quote from the jeweller who made my engagement ring to see if we can get it copied. Since ordering it from Etsy would be custom, we might as well go custom in the UK.
Then I found a very similar band by the same seller and now I am wondering which is better?
Band 1 has a thin sliver of metal on either side which looks like it would protect the stones slightly and prevent them from catching on things and gathering fluff and hairs. It also looks like it has a smoother surface.
Band 2 doesn’t have the sides. This means it is 0.1mm thinner than my e-ring from the website, but we could get it made slightly thicker if we go custom in the UK. It is possibly prettier than band 1, but maybe not as practical?
Also I am left-handed so I use my ring hand all the time!
Which would you choose?
These pics are taken from the website:
Band 1 (in palladium, not rose gold):
From the side, with the matching e-ring (which is gorgeous!!):
Band 2 (in palladium, not rose gold):
And here is a crappy Paint job of how band 1 might look with my e-ring (NB the diamond specs would be the same, the lighting in the picture of the band makes my e-ring look dingy in comparison!):
Thank you! 🙂
