If you met your SO online, how did you meet?
I saw a video of my fiance and was curious as to who he was (I’ll spare you all the long story). I did dome detective work and found his Facebook and posted. We started talking about a business idea we both wanted to pursue and became friends. We started dating after almost two years and got engaged 9 months later.
You never know when or where you’ll meety Mr. Right.

We met on craigslist in an era after the craigslist killer was in the news. I posted a personals ad and received lots of responses, mainly one-liners and weird ones. However, FI sounded very smart and nice, so I had to meet him! At first it was a little weird dating someone I really only knew through emails. In the end, we turned out to be incredibly compatible, and he is indeed smart and nice and upstanding. We were pre-engaged after less than a year and are now engaged, planning our wedding next year. Yay! It’s such a fun story to tell.

We met on an AOL chat room for teens back in 04. Back when AOL was popular. Lol.

I did! We were on plenty of fish, and I had been on for a couple of months but the guys I met were all weirdos so I was going to cancel my account when I got a note from him. He was cute, super smart and actually was interested in not talking about himself and how cool he is. I was always uber cautiois about meeting new guys so I told all my friends where I was going and everything I knew about this guy. I made it pretty clear that the only place I would meet him was in broad daylight and in a very public setting, and so he jokingly suggested the paint aisle of a department store… and I thought that was super funny so I agreed. The next date we met in the paint aisle at walmart… we both thought this was HILARIOUS ( our frineds thought it was weird) …it was love! 5 years together, and the wedding isin 2016 🙂

Meeeeee! It was eharmony for us. I paid for a whole years subscription and he messaged me 2 weeks in and I knew that was it for me. Best investment I ever made 🙂

Me! Politics, and a campaign for a political candidate.

I met him on Ok Cupid! I dated a bunch of guys (over 20-yikes) but only two of the guys made it past a second date. Some were super weird, others super normal. I did it because I wanted experience dating. About 6 months into my OKcupid membership, I met my SO 😀
nambi_pambi: the paint aisle at walmart–that’s such a great story!!!

- Wedding: A very pretty church.
We met on a study/career specific forum. I wasn’t single at that time so there was none of this lonely hearts business. Became friends (lots of msn chat etc) and later (in the fullness of time) my relationship ran its course and a bit after that we said “what the hell, let’s give this a go”. Worked out pretty well I think.

I didn’t meet my SO online, but just had to drop in to say I love all these stories and congrats to everyone!
nambi_pambi: Adorable. You really should use paint chips to do some cute thing at your wedding! I can only imagine how cute paint chip escort cards would be.

I met mine on Plenty of Fish almost 2 years ago. I had just graduated from college and would finally be in one place for over 5 months, so the timing seemed right. I had been online for a couple of months and had to vet out the borings and crazies (I was beginning to become pessimistic). Meanwhile, my SO was feeling the same way and had started sending girls joke messages, like cheesy pick up lines/literal jokes, since it seemed hopeless anyways. But he said he typed up the joke message to me, read my profile again, and decided to try one more time putting forth a serious effort–so he deleted the joke. Thank goodness he did, because his thoughtful message really caught my eye and we’ve been happily dating ever since

- Wedding: April 2016 - Gratus Vineyard
I was living at the beach with some friends. But they started to ditch me on weekends to go on fun dates from plenty of fish. So I figured I’d give it a whirl, just for fun. I didn’t even create my own profile, my friends did it for me. My SO contacted me on the first day, on the third day we went on our first date, on April 1st. And the rest is history. We’ve been together for 4.5years and plan on getting married April 1st, 2016 (April Fools Day). Which is very fitting, because he’s such a jokester.

I joined a dating site, LavaLife, and had only been on for three weeks when my FI messaged me. He had been on for a few months but hadn’t had any dates. His was the only well written, eloquent and non-sexual message I received. We met about a week and a half after first emailing each other at a local coffee shop in a shopping centre and never looked back.
I knew then I would grow old with him. He took a bit longer to figure it out… He popped the question after 5 years & 9 months together, and living together for 5 years.

- Wedding: February 2015 - Chapel on Base
I met my Love on singlesnet. I had just signed up for the free option he had a paid membership. I thought he was interested and wrote back and thanked him for writing etc. To my horror I figured out he only looked at my profile. We exchanged messages for a short time. We met for dinner and a movie. The conversation was easy and fun. He walked me to my car and I knew he was hooked. Our second date he showed up with a movie for my girls. I got in his car and instinctively reached over and scratched his knee. That’s when I knew I was hooked.
Here is the part I left out. I was everything he wasn’t looking for. He had a vasectomy at a young age because he didn’t want children. He didn’t like overweight girls. He liked blondes with big boobs. I have 2 girls. I was extremely overweight (328#) when I met him. I am a brunette with small boobs for my size. He was playing the nice guy and taking the fat girl out so I wouldn’t think he was an a$$. Joke was on him since he was very smitten on our first date. He says it’s because he liked that I adopted my daughters.
I couldn’t believe I was dating a man that was smarter than me. Trust me, I’m not the brightest bulb in the bunch but i always dated blue colar types with no education. He was an Annapolis Naval Academy Graduate. I was so intimidated. Here we are dating over 4 years. Engaged for one. Four different wedding dates but getting married April 2015. My youngest was 1 when I met him. He has made us a family.
Sometimes you just have to meet the guys on a computer first. I’m glad I did.

I met my fiance on Plenty of Fish also. I only went on it because I was curious about the site. I wasn’t looking for a person to date at the time because I was going to a really difficult situation with my family. I became homeless so because I was kicked out of my mom’s house because of her d-bf. I was moving from place to place and was having a hard time going to college and dealing with my family drama situation. My So was the best thing that has ever happened to me here is our story.
Out of the blue my SO message me from something I wrote on my profile on Plenty of fish. At the time I just wanted someone to talk to keep my mind off of my current situation. One thing lead to another we started talking through email literally all day everyday. Then we would talk on the phone and text. We than started to skype and decided to meet up one day since he only live a few hours from where I was. After that we started dating and became insepartable ever since. We just got engaged on our third anniversary in July and will be getting married on our 4th anniversay in year 2015. I can’t wait for it to get here already. We kept it a secret of how we met but will eventually tell people how we met haha. He is the best thing that has ever happened to me. He is my best friend. He is the only person who knows me better than I know my self. We have a five month son together.

wifetobee63: I met my FI through an online dating site, I was on Match and he was on Dating Direct (we couldn’t even agree on a site!) fortunately turns out they pool their members. I was on the site for a year, went on countless disappointing, boring and in some cases just plain weird dates and was pretty much at the point of giving up. He, lucky swine, was on the site for just 1 week on a trial membership. I was his 2nd date and he closed his profile the morning after meeting me. FI an I are both really happy to have met online dating and completely open about it, we’d never have met any other way. It does sometimes surprise and disappoint me that we occasionally get people who seem to see dating sites as a bit ‘needy’ I’ve had people question the fact I ‘paid to meet someone’ I always ask what them what they see going to a bar or expensive club as doing and anyway he’s more than worth the money 🙂
