pics please 🙂
Sorry! I don’t know what happened to my post. Anyways, here goes:
Although our wedding is 11 months away, I’m trying to get a lot of things accomplished before school starts. My bridesmaids live all over the country, so getting everybody together to shop is not going to be feasible. My bridesmaids range in size from 5′ 2″ to 5′ 7″, and size-wise from a size 2 to a size 20. My girls prefer more of a simple dress. The dresses will be black, with possibly a champagne gold accent. Here are a few that I found, just wanted to get everyone’s opinion.
Dress # 1 – Bill Levkoff #583
I really love the fabric on this dress! However, I know that Bill Levkoff dresses can size a little weirdly.
Option 2: David’s Bridal Y-Neck
I love the look of this dress! It’s not too expensive (around $139), but I’m not sure about the fabric.
Option 3: Dessy After Six
I really like this dress, too! I know that straps could be a concern for one girl, so if there is an option to add straps, I would be completely fine with that.
Thanks for your opinions, girls! Hopefully my post works this time 🙂
while i LOVE that David’s bridal dress, I’d be concerned that any ladies with medium to large busts may not look so great in it, so I voted 1 because it seems like it would flatter the most body types to me.
I’m torn. I love Bill Levkoff and really love that 1st dress but I like the sweatheart neckline of the After Six too. I think if you could combine the neckline of the 3rd dress and the skirt of the 1st, it would be perfect. HOWEVER, since i know you can’t do this, I’d go with the 3rd one.
I think the first one is perfect for a bridal party that has all different size women in it. The straps also allows your size 20 bridesmaid to wear a regular bra….which is good if she is busty!
I like them all but if have a well endowed BM the first dress is the way to go.
I actually wore the second dress, the David’s Bridal Y-Neck. It was very comfortable and flattering. The only drawback was it wrinkled! By the end of the catholic ceremony our backsides were a mess.
I’m having a really hard time choosing — I like the style of 1, but I’m not a fan of the fabric on the first one.
I love number 2 because my girls tried it on at DB — but didn’t like the texture of it. It fit a bit odd, too.
I LOVE number 3, it’s so BEAUTIFUL and flowy! But I don’t think EVERYONE of your bridesmaids would feel comfortable in that dress.
Have you thought about giving them the option as long as they pick the same color and same length? That way everyone will have something they’re comfortable in. That’s what I did with my girls. We have some that are strapless and some are v-necked, but it still looks good together!
The Bill Levkoff is my favorite, but I like the DB as well.
The top of #2 fits strangely on large chests. One of my BM’s tried it on.
I love the first one. Is there a way your larger BM’s could try it on to see if it would fit her right. That would be my first choice.
#3 is very pretty as well and if you added a strap it could be really nice, though those large pleats in the front might not be too flattering for anyone with a tummy.
I may be biased, but I like #1. My BMs are wearing Bill Levkoff #526. It has the similar v-neckline and it looks very flattering on my girls. They range in size from 8 to 12. Also, the bridal store was trying to get them to get one size larger, but they didn’t and ordered more true to their size. The result was that the dresses ended up being a little bigger.
I love number 3 but I’m a bit biased because that is what my BMs wore (and I also bought it in one of the patterned fabrics for my rehearsal dinner dress!).
Here’s some real photos in case you’re interested in seeing it on someone besides the model.
ETA: As someone with a larger bust (36F), I don’t think dress number 1 would leave enough room for my girls. I know dress #3 would work for a bustier girl as I was able to wear it just fine.
I have a bridesmaid with a larger size and larger bust, and the David’s Bridal dress just wasn’t flattering. The third dress might work, but the skirt flares kind of wide, which might not be flattering for a larger girl. I’m thinking the first dress might be the safest (and I think it’s very pretty, too!)
As a bridesmaid price would be my number one concern, So I would opt for the cheaper dress. If they were all the same price I would still go for the davids bridal dress
