    Hi ladies,

I had my final dress fitting last night! She made it so I can bustle it 2 ways.  Which should I choose? It has really awesom elace so I think the over bustle is pretty, but the under bustle shows off the buttons.Excuse the under bustle in the pictures, it hasn't been pressed so it looks a bit rumpled!

    Thoughts?

The over bustle shows your dress to it's best advantage.  I know people are loving the French bustle these days, but I prefer a pointed over bustle.

At first I wanted to say over bustle - but I think the whole dress looks better with the under bustle - plus the buttons continuing down are so pretty!

Oooo I love how the overbustle shows off the lace. Definitely over bustle.

I like the over bustle the best. You could always do half n half and show both of the bustles throughout your reception

I agree with PP regarding showing off the lace with an overbustle.  I also think it makes the dress look more neat than the under bustle.

Thanks everyone!  I was thinking I might switch if I want to. I also hear the over bustle pulls out much easier when sitting etc.  Anyone have any experience with that?

I voted overbustle, but it probably does rip easier, especially if it's only one "thingy" (what's it called anyway? lol) that's holding the dress up. I had three and mine sitll ripped, but that was from when my not so smooth hubby was carrying me over the threshold for a photo-op...

What I do kind of like about the underbustle is that it reminds me of old Victorian dresses for some reason which I totally love.

The overbustle looks so much sleeker, I really prefer that look  (and it is what I'm doing, so I may be biased).  Just make sure the seamstress reinforces it, and my bridal shop said to bring along some big, thick safety pins just in case.  I think the slim risk of the bustle breaking is worth the prettier look.

Both are lovely but I like the underbustle more. I like the way the lace peaks out!

I like the overbustle better. It looks a bit more streamlined that way. Beautiful dress!

I prefer the underbustle I think the dress lays like it is supposed to with the underbustle. My alterations gal and I are still working on finding the right bustle for my dress because I have a lot of lace, tulle and beading.  But when we do the overbustle it looks like I have a tail, I don't like that.

Make sure to choose the bustle that you will not have to worry about and go crazy on the dance floor in.

LOVE LOVE LOVE THE UNDER-BUSTLE!!  It is lovely and follows the lines of the dress perfectly.  Plus, I think it shows off our cute figure better ;)

underbustle - it reminds me of victorian dresses and is more discreet. the overbustle shows too much lace - which is a bit of a disconnect with the rest of your dress from the back.

Over bustle for sure, the under makes your dress look really weird in the back

My personal opionion of course, but now that I go back and look at it, I do love how the buttons run down the whole length in the back...maybe it would flow better with the under bustle once its been steamed?

Tough decision. I voted for the over because it really shows off the beautiful details on your train. I think that you could get some really pretty pictures of the back of your gown. Both are beautiful though :)

I voted for the under bustle. I actually think it shows off the lace detail better that way! It looks more polished... more classic even! The over bustle looks unfinished.

    Lovely gown :)

That lace is fantastic and it's more flattering to your figure. The other stands away from your body and although pretty doesn't give you as nice as a shape.

The underbustle shape is very elegant and flattering, but the overbustle shows off more lace.  A good in-between would be to do the overbustle but not so high, maybe only half way up, around your knee height.  That way you'll see both the buttons and the lace and it will be a little more flattering.

Honestly, they both look good, you can't go wrong!
