Our cake baker only allows 2 flavors choices. Anything beyond 2 is extra charge 🙁 I have narrowed it down to 2 possible combo flavors based from a previous poll I posted here. For sure a vanilla cake because it’s classic and perhaps the safest flavor for everyone. For the second flavor, which would be good? Let me know your thoughts why also.

I hate red velvet so I’d go with mocha or chocolate. Mocha sounds delicious so that’s the one I’d probably pick.

Somehow, my original post is not letting me add info. Basically, I wanted to add mocha, chocolate & red velvet are all equally good. We are not picky eaither and love basically all cake flavors.

I voted red velvet…it’s similar enough to chocolate but it seems like people REALLY love it & get excited about it. I don’t think Mocha would appeal to as many people.

i am not a chocolate cake fan, so i would eat vanilla. red velvet, chocolcate, or mocha don’t appeal to me. i know people go crazy over red velvet.

I love chocolate, but maybe go for something more exotic since you already have a safe choice?

Red velvet’s appeal is 99% the name and 1% the novelty of the color. Notice this leaves 0% for flavor. In blind taste tests the response to red velvet is always some variety of “maybe chocolate I think? Or… I guess like a not great chocolate.” I vote mocha.

I would do either chocolate or red velvet… If they are all very good, i’d go with one of those only because some people are very averse to coffee type flavored food stuffs. (PS- whenever there is red velvet at a wedding I get very excited )

I absolutely hate mocha flavored things (love coffee though so go figure)- and know tons of people that also feel that way. In fact, if vanilla and mocha were layered together I probably wouldn’t eat either because the smell of the mocha and it touching would ruin the flavor of the vanilla for me. I would probably go with the chocolate- I love red velvet and it is very popular and trendy right now, but traditionally it is served with cream cheese frosting (one of the best things about it) which would be hard to keep cold for a wedding cake and not go as well with the vanilla.

I don’t like anything coffee is but voted mocha as it’s a bit more unusual and you already have a safe choice!

I voted for mocha. I hate red velvet as well, and vanilla and chocolate would be a bit too simple in my opinion. Mocha is safe (tons of people love coffee) but more ‘zazzy than chocolate.

The only one I would eat is chocolate. I won’t waste calories on anything vanilla. I don’t like coffee, so mocha is out; I don’t like red velvet, either – trendy and overrated!
I didn’t even eat the cake, at my own wedding. I wanted the bakery to use my grandmother’s dark chocolate cake recipe. They said it would be difficult to cover it, with vanilla icing (that was 40 years ago). We ended up with chocolate chip, as the closest alternative.

I like mocha, but many don’t.
Red velvet always just tastes like chemicals to me. I find it revolting. And based on many cake discussions with my friends and coworkers (we all really love cake and to bake in general), I don’t think I’m alone. It gets a lot of wrinkled noses and half eaten slices left on the table whenever it is offered. I know there may be some who love it, but that isn’t my experience.

Looks like chocolate and mocha are neck to neck so far with 22 and 20 votes respectively!
