I always knew what our colors would be and choosing our venue didn’t determine what colors we would go with.

We decided on the time of year first, then  I picked colors, then venue! I didn’t want fallish or wintery colors for a summer wedding so that helped and I chose the venue based on it being a great summer venue, i.e. have an outdoor option and beautiful grounds.

I wanted a beach wedding so we only went to venues that would go with our theme. I’m also pretty certain our colors don’t match the carpet in our room at all but I don’t really care.

I knew I wanted to get married in a contemporary art museum, and there are colors that just don’t work in a modern white and stainless steel space (maroon and gold, anyone?). We then chose modern, fun colors to play up the space (aqua/yellow/silver/white)

@LGenz: Our colors won’t match the carpet either, but that’s not something we can change so I’ll just have to look past it πŸ™‚

We already knew exactly where we wanted to get married, which is a rustic cabane à sucre in Quebec. We also knew what time of year we wanted to get married, sugaring off season (February-March)! From there we knew what theme we wanted and how our wedding would feel. πŸ™‚

We have always wanted to have the reception at the Aquarium so that was a no brainer.

We have just picked our colous. Navy blue and Kelly green oh yeah!

@cherrycoke: The entire hotel is gorgeous but the carpet is inexplicably awful haha (Im getting married where Mrs Buttons had her first look)

I knew what colours I wanted but I didn’t definetly choose until after I’d chosen the venue to make sure it worked

Pretty much as soon as my FI and I were thinking seriously about marriage, we knew we wanted to get married in his church, so technically the venue came first — but, at the same time, I’ve had the basic themes/color ideas in my head since I ever thought we might get married, so it really does feel like a chicken/egg situation to me πŸ˜›

Another bride with non-matching venue carpet here — but I did tweak my colors a little so that they’d go better with the fellowship hall in the church, where the reception will be!

100% choose the theme and colors first then built everything else including our venues off of it. I wanted the venue to reflect our wedding not us trying to fit our wedding to the venues style.

Venue came first…but colors came shortly after. I am basing my colors off of the hydrangeas that are on the property (lavender/lilac, cream, blush and green)

My venue isn’t really having any effect on my colors. I suppose if the venue was more flamboyant it might have, but the room and the courtyard for our wedding is pretty generic–I can make it what I want with colors and decorations.
