I said Chicken Marsala because the smokehouse chicken seemed like it has too much going on, and also because there are a lot of people who just don't like ham. Personally, I don't like combining two types of meat in one meal like that, so it wouldn't be appealing to me.
I would rather have the chicken marsala but the other sounds tasty too!
I'd go for the marsala, but my husband would be in heaven with the smokehouse chicken, for what it's worth. :)
@abbie017: I am not a fan of the two meats at once thing, either. Yuck! I did have a similar chicken dish at FI's cousin's wedding, but it had bacon instead of ham. It was surpisingly good! But, the bacon is a lot less than a slab of ham (I hate ham!).
I don't really like Marsala or the Smokehouse thing (I don't like barebecue sauce), so that's why I needed help from you guys.
@Pinksapphire: I think marsala is a pretty safe bet; it seems to be a thing that most people like.
@Pinksapphire: Haha if you hate ham, I'd definitely say go with the marsala. Are there any other options you can get the venue to do, or do they really only give you these two chicken choices??
I think the chicken marsala would appeal to a broader range of guests versus the smokehouse chicken...
We get three total entrée choices. We're decided on Prime Rib and Shrimp Alfredo as the first two, but the chicken dish is a tough one because FI and I are having the Prime Rib and don't really have an opinion on the chicken.
It looks like the general concensus here is that Chicken Marsala would be best, so I think that's what we're going to go with!
@Pinksapphire: We're in the same boat, and don't really care about the chicken dish (we prefer red meat). We decided on a creamy chicken marsala & all of my guests that I've mentioned this too have seemed to really like the idea! I'm sure the chicken marsala will go over well for you, too :)
Definitely the Marsala. When cooking/serving food en masse, the simpler the preparation the better it's going to taste.

The menu choices for our reception have changed slightly, so now I've got to re-do my menus. I have decided that instead of two seafood choices, we will have both a chicken and a seafood selection. My question of the day, is:
Which chicken selection sounds best to you (which would you rather have, as a guest):
Thanks for all of your help, I appreciate you guys!
