Alright! So FI and I have gone back and forth on whether to do a destination wedding or not, and I think we have finally decided! Amsterdam Manor Beach Resort in Aruba! I really didn’t want to get married on a beach, but I’ve finally come around the the idea and theres just something about sand that looks like icing sugar, fofoti trees and flamingos.
Heres some pictures so you get the idea:
the ceremony set up between the fofoti trees (we wont have red)
the reception on the beach (we wont have green either)
SO! My original idea for my bridesmaid dresses, flowers and overall color scheme (pinks, mostly blush, with ivory and gold)..I’m also kind of obsessed with the 1920s, vintage’y and great gatsby anything.
OR! Now I’ve come across these really classy black on black lace cocktail dresses. So so pretty. And I’ve found myself liking bright orange, deep pink, and dark purple cala lillies. I really like this classic look with the bright colors.
So, which do you prefer? I’ll make a poll too!

Bump! Need more pole votes!

I voted for the second option, not overly keen on the idea of black with the other colours.

I’m not entirely sure what to vote for. I think black lace dresses totally clash with a beach wedding, and I also think a Gatsby theme would clash.
Colour schemes I like for beach weddings are bright, summery colours like coral and mint, or torquoise and yellow, with hibiscus or frangipani flowers, or pastels with white loose flowers.
Sorry if thats not any help.

The latter is much to dark and fall/wintery for such a tropical wedding, not a fan at all.

@Bearimbolo: agreed! Same thoughts here.

I think the light blushes would be gorgeous on be beach!!! Can you legally get married on the beach? I thought you had to get married in the town hall?

I voted for the light blushes, I think that will look gorgeous for a beach wedding! Just my opinion, I kind of agree with the other brides that black lace doesn’t really go for a beach wedding. However, the more you plan your wedding the more you will find that everyone has a different opinoin, you will NEVER be able to please everyone, and that you have to do what is right for you and makes you happy! Good luck!

I think both are lovely! However, for your location and the comfort of your girls I’d go with the light colored dresses. I know I’d be sweating to death and itchy as all get out in black lace on the beach!

@JrzyGurl: you do need to go to town hall first, but we only plan to have our bridal party with us for that part. Since our actual vows will be said on the beach.

I prefer more saturated colors for a beach setting. The lighter ones blend in to the point of washing out.

I voted the first option but, no black it’s too heavy for an airy beach wedding. I would stay away from the great gatsby theme too because it is usually done with black and metallics and may be too formal for a beach wedding.

I like the fiery oranges , pinks, and dark purples of the second option..but not black dresses doesn’t seem to go? Great start though And beautiful resort!!
