Check out Casablanca as well! And Maggie Sottero.
Maybe Mon Cheri? I got my dress through that designer for around $600 but it was marked down because I took the sample size. But I think retail was still under $1000.
I second the Casablance suggestion mine was exactly $1000 and it included being made to a custom length, i.E. no hem. I've heard of folks finding Casablanca's for around $800.
Mine is Casablanca, well made and well under $1000, especially since it was bought off the floor. Actually I found a bunch of really nice dresses for under $1000 by looking off the floor. We aren't having a long engagement so most of the dresses would have had to have been rush ordered but most (not all) of the bridal places were more than happy to help out and show what was available lying around. Those dresses their usually a little more haggle room, especially if it's a really good dress for you, I found most of the ladies really liked their job and would be flexible where they could be.
I got my Maggie Sottero in Montreal for $730 CAD after all taxes. Alterations will probably cost me around $150.
Mine is Casablanca as well (Love it!) and it is under $800 even with alterations.
thanks for all the tips!! i am so excited to go look at more dresses with more of an idea on price :)
Some of Pronovias and San Patrick dresses are within that budget. I'm a big fan of their style.
allure dresses are amazing. i was in love with two for about $600. also, the lower end demetrios dresses are under $1000 and stunning.
Watters has some dress under $1,000 as well. I would check them out, too.
No one has mentioned Sophia Tolli, so I thought I'd put my plug in for her ;) (but I'm biased!)
Watters has a line called WToo that is less expensive. Mine is the Clarissa & was about $750. Not sure yet what alteratiions will be, but I think it won't be more than $200.
Nicole Miller does! They're not all under 1k, but a lot are. And they're great.
I got my Paloma Blanca sample dress for $650...I think sample dresses are a great way to get a designer dress for CHEAP.
A few that I can think of that haven't been mentioned are Demetrios and Oleg Cassini (at David's Bridal). You could also look on oncewed.com or theknot.com community board ALWAYS has brides who are selling new designer gowns. Good luck!
I will second Allure... my runner up dress was $850 and looked a lot more expensive. Allure has more expensive designs too but most of them are under $1000.
Mine was a Casablanca that came custom made so it would fit my measurements for a little under $1000. I got a ton of compliments on the dress. You should really check it out, especially if you're petite.
I found exactly the same Alfred Angelo ($600) dress for $275 at David's Bridal t9861. It's not that important to me to have a designer dress. I'm only gonna wear it once. So the deal was perfect and I didn't sacrifice what I wanted
I totally agree with saraeliz, yohagopelo and daniellemybelle, Allure dresses are gorgeous and they are really high quality. I just posted about it today on my blog.
I wore Casablanca and my dress (pre-alterations) would have come in under your budget. For their price point, I loved the styles and detailing.
Mine is an Anjolique which was $1050 (including tax not including alterations) and it is a silk dress! It was the only silk I could find for that price! Satin dress are cheaper, and Tafetta can come in around $1000 also.
I'm also looking within this price range..and i saw quite a few more than i thought there would be in this price range. saw a few Venus ones for way under $1k. good luck!
SAJA in NYC, search for SAJA in google. they are all lightweight and chiffon (no train), but very pretty.
Casablanca and Watters have good selections in that price range. My dress was $1012 from Emerald Bridal. Check out trunk shows for the $1500-2000 range dresses-- they might get marked to below 1k!
For new dresses you can go to the know, on dresses do a search on dresses, 1 $ means $0-600, 2 $ signs mean 600-1500, put $$ on price range and live everything else blank!
That will give you an idea on designers to name a few: group usa, alfred angelo, maggie...
I got mine at Ami-Fer in Montreal. It's a Mori Lee right off the rack and I paid 680$ total. I did tell the sales lady that the max I would spend on a dress is 600$ before taxes. The only alterations I have to do is the bustle, taking 2 inches off the bottom, and add some padding in the chest area.
Good luck with your search!
Look as Jasmine dresses. The dress I ended up buying is a Jasmine (their regular line, not the couture line), but I tried on quite a few and they are very good quality. Some of them use higher end fabrics as well (like silk taffetas). They will also allow for dresses to be ordered with custom changes for a small fee, which can help keep alteration costs low.
My Jasmine dress was $600 as is from my local bridal salon, $700 with the custom change I requested. I checked the price at Perl's Place in Louisiana and it was even cheaper ordering from them (about $450). A lot of the styles I tried on were also in the $500-800 range.
hi everyone, just wanted to let you know i am selling a saja gown (style PP6253) on oncewed.com under $1000
