I'm sure this is a ridiculous question to ask, but is anyone overwhelmed to the point they are almost shutting down over all the wedding planning stuff?  I'm not getting married until Labor Day weekend of 2010---yeah, long time from now(!)---and I'm so overwhelmed. I can't decide on what I want. I don't know if I want to stick with my venue or take that money and put it into my new backyard (we close on our first home next week!) and have a backyard wedding. I am NOT looking forward to looking at dresses. I'm really not. That makes me a horrible bride, right? The guest list, some people say they'll be there but you have no idea if you can really count on them showing and that actually makes a huge difference in what to plan for. Then there's the bridal party, have them, don't have them, OMG I need it to stop. For the past month and a half I have really been MIO from WB because of the focus put on buying our home and I've enjoyed not worrying about all of this stuff--and instead I would love to think about decorating and sprucing up our first house. Advice?

Curlysue I totally know where you are coming from!  I found that if I focused on one thing at a time, it really helped me not feel completely overwhelmed.  I also found that there were two things that helped bring things into focus for me: 1) Figuring out how many people we were inviting (don't worry about whether or not they will make it, because that will just make you go batty.), and 2) finding the BM dresses as I had no color scheme at all until we found the dresses.  The size of the invite list helped me eliminate prospective locations that were too small or too big, and the color of the BM dresses gave me something to work with in terms of picking out flowers and the paper for the invites.

Good luck with everything, and just remember to take deep breaths.
