I love them both and I regularly wear them together. I don't think you have to be one or the other.
I love them both, (and pretty much every other precious and semi precious stone - except opals). I just love jewelry in general. But if I could only wear one stone for the rest of my life it would be diamonds.
I absolutely love both of them, and I don't think I could put myself into one category or the other. Each is wonderful in the right context. :)
BOTH! Everyone I know is a pearl AND diamond girl. So classy. I don't know a single soul who is one or the other in regards to them....granted, all my friends are sorority sisters, and pearls and diamonds are our stones. So we may be biased. Then again, I love all jewelry...all gemstones.....everything =]
I never thought of that. I'm really not a diamond girl, not that I don't like them, I think they're plenty pretty, but I just don't have a big desire for them, which made it hard to want an engagement ring because the cost is a lot of something you think is just nice and we ended up doing something a bit difference. But.... I wore double stranded pearls with a pearl bracelet with my wedding dress.
it all depends on the outfit and the occassion so can i say both? for the wedding, i wore pearls at rd, diamonds and jade at the actual ceremony / reception. my dress had no bling on it so i could have gone either way - it ended up being whatever my parents gifted me.
I've never thought of this but I think I am more of a diamond girl. I LOVE sparkles!
Interesting idea...I think it has some truth to it:)) I am a pearl girl most likely.
Diamonds! I am a diamond girl all the way. I have all my grandma's diamond jewelry, and my mom doesn't like diamonds at all! It so funny to me, how can you not like diamonds???? I wear my g-ma's diamond band and my diamond tennis bracelet every day.
I like diamonds, though the only thing diamond I own is my engagment ring (and wedding ring, but I can't wear that yet). I like pearls, too but I don't own any.
I love both but I don't really have many of either that I wear. I have my diamond engagement ring and wedding band that I wear and I keep bugging my husband to buy me pearls for a present sometime!
I actually don't care for either. I'd rather have pretty colored sparkly stones or opals.
I really love both, but there's just something about diamonds that make me really, really happy!
I much prefer PEARLS! I am not a traditional pearl necklace kind of girl but I have tons of pearl bracelets from J. Crew that I love to wear and my go-to earrings are ALWAYS big pearls - they go with everything and are so classic and elegant looking. I reach for those, always, over the boring diamonds I have :)
I'm a pearl girl! It's just so classic :)
I love my diamonds, but I'm also conflicted because of the amount of controversy surrounding diamonds. It hurts my heart...
I'm definitely a diamond girl, but as a good southerner, I have my pearls too!
I like both. Pearl is my birthstone, but who doesn't adore some bling? I think a pearl bracelet looks really classy on my engagement ring hand (when my ring is clean!)
I am a total pearl person! Love love love them! I even had my mom convinced that a girl is to get a strand when she turns 16...I love the set she got me.
I love my diamond e-ring and wouldn't trade it for the world but as an everyday piece of jewelry or what I would naturally gravitate towards, I would have to say I'm a pearl girl.
Pearls, I love them! All the colors, and that they work just fine with jeans- which I totally live in. I just really don't have any interest in diamonds.
Diamonds are pretty, but I'd have to say that pearls are my favorite! I wear them everyday.
Pearls, all the way. I have two pairs of small diamond studs, one in white gold, the other in yellow (I am super weird about coordinating white and yellow metal, it is an afflication, but I'm also that person who separates blacks and grays from blue and browns....) Those earings, my sapphire engagement ring, and sapphire pendant I received from my father are the only gemstones I own, and I have no craving for more.
But I LOVE pearls. I mean, really, really, really love pearls. I went to China this summer and dropped pretty much my entire spending budget on pearls. I chose pearls over fabulous knock-off handbags, and I am a handbag person. But pearls....*sigh*
I love diamond for my engagement ring because it's classic, but I have a few strands of pearls that I love wearing with certain outfits. At the same time, I am just as fine with fake pearls and fake diamonds (but not fake in my e-ring of course!)
I agree with Gemstone, I'm fine with the fake ones as long as they aren't gaudy. Though there are a few of my pieces which I prefer to be "real."
Diamonds and pearls are teh reoccuring element in our wedding. Diamonds because they are obviously a girls best friend and pearls to tie in the beach wedding that i'm not having at the beach
Between the two, I'm a Diamond girl. I wear my diamond earrings (a 30th bday gift from my mom) everyday. Love them! I'm not a real traditional pearl fan (a little too traditional for my taste), although I do like the chunky pearl styles that are popular now--like the "statement necklaces" that Michelle Obama wears.
Of the two I'm a pearl girl - but I much prefer colored gemstones!

Inspired by this thread. I remember reading a jeweler's comment somewhere recently that said "women tend to be diamond people or pearl people." An interesting idea.
It works for me, because I am definitely not a diamond person (I couldn't care less about having a big one for my e-ring, would rather have an emerald for a list of reasons), and I've always loved pearls. They're so elegant and classic, without being flashy. They're fun to wear as faux jewelry and the real thing is just stunning!
What about the rest of the hive? Would you consider yourself a diamond gal or pearl gal?
