I know there have been several posts already on this subject but rather than sorting through all of them and trying to find some, I thought it would be cool to make a newer posting for encore brides to post pics of the wedding gown they chose. I started looking this past weekend and I have to say, so far I am VERY disappointed. I don’t want anything that makes me look “matronly” (I’m 43) but also don’t want to look like a teeny-bopper in a Cinderella gown either. Have any other “mature” encore brides faced this same dilemma? If you have already purchased your gown can you please post a pic? If not, do you have a pic from a website or magazine that shows what you like? Just trying to get some ideas.
Oh…another thing that I am facing is that I am a size 12 jeans, size 14-16 dress. I am working on being a size 10 by the end of April but it seems like all the gowns I have found so far that I actually like are a size 2. 🙁

I’ll be 40 in March and I’m 5’4″. I couldn’t play off the Cinderalla dresses if I wanted to. I was originally going to do something more laid back but Fiance really wants a full blown wedding, spare no details. This is the gown I bought – Maggie Phillipa. I won’t be wearing a veil but will have a hair clip instead.

I wore a non traditional short wedding dress, one shouldered too, which was white silk by Calvin Klein. Had crystals all over the one shoulder area. Loved it! Was perfect for the summertime and the southern heat~

First of all – try on lots of gowns/dresses etc – you deserve to feel fantastic
I tried on close to 100 and am not ashamed to admit – lots of them looked just fine they just weren’t right. I wanted a dress that fit my body and my wedding venue and the time of day. Funny thing is that I found a salon that picked out my dress for me and it was perfect – so find a salon or dress departement that listens
Second – keep faith in the weight loss – I had just started to focus on weight loss before I got engaged and am down 20lbs – 10 more and I will be back to my comfort weight and a size 4
Third – just because you are an encore and just because you are over 40 there is not necessarily a specific dress type or color etc. That rule is obsolete – wear what makes you feel beautiful and special
So here I am in my 42 year old encore bridal gear lol

I’m 40, 5’3 street size 10-12. I was in the low 130’s when I bought this, but lost 5 lbs before the wedding–thank god for corset backs! It’s from David’s

I am getting vow renewed. Some of my friends think I’m silly for wanting a dress at all. But this is the wedding we didn’t have. I am looking foward to this very much! I was concerned about “age appropriateness” and “destination dresses” pshaw! Its my day, I can wear whatever I want… I tried on TONS of dresses. This is the one I ended up choosing. I don’t care if its not age appropriate, or its not a destination dress (we are having our VR in Las Vegas with Elvis). I LOVE this dress and as soon as I put it on I knew it was me! By The Way: I am 42
