I am new to this site and I am SO glad that I found it!! I would like some advice on choosing a dress. Now, I know that it’s MY dress. But I’m having a REALLY hard time deciding on which one to have made. Yes, I’m looking for the BEST knock off artist EVER. With that being said, do any of you have any advice on what company to use?
PS. Just a little background information. I am a size 8, rather large breast size at 38C. I want an ivory dress because I am a 43 year old bride. We are eloping ALONE after 9 years of living together and raising a family together. (my bio children, not his). We are planning an elopment to The Biltmore Estate in Ashville, NC. We want to get married on the grounds with the Mansion in the background from afar. The pics will be lovely! We want to look “fairytale like”. Our friends and family will be completely shocked to see the pics post on Facebook and in emails, from out of nowhere on April 1st!! lol. Yes, April Fool’s Day!! It seemed fitting considering our sense of humor as well as our desire to do this alone as a couple, but still want a beautiful look to our special day. We will tell our kids….but we like the idea of eloping and going off on a small vacation. This is all being planned for 2014, so I have plenty of time to have the perfect dress tailored.
So, which dress do you think? Have you ever seen Biltmore House? Take a look at the link and imagine one of the three dresses below with the mansion as a backdrop. I want my man in traditional black with white shirt and ivory tie and vest.

I’ve heard a lot of good things about dressilyme. None of these dresses are my style, but 2 is my favorite because I don’t like pick ups.

I like dress #2 the best. But that’s because I hate pick-ups
ETA: Jasmine’s Bridal Shop is great. There are several (I believe 5 now) pages dedicated to Jasmine’s

Dress # 2….I’m not a fan of 1 or 3

Hmmm…..I will check them out. Thank you!

I love dress #2, but go with whichever one you are more drawn to!

what is it about pick ups that is so terrible? I will only wear this dress for about 90 minutes, as I have another idea in mind for our dinner that evening. Are they heavy? Too hard to walk around in? What exactly does Pick Up mean?

@MrsParcell: I actually really like dress #3.

@IzzyBear: I wonder if this is the shop that the notorious Zimo is affiliated with? I have read around on this forum and he seems to come up in a lot of threads on Chinese made dresses. Unfortunately though, he only works through email now…..which is worrisome….even though he assures complete communication and production photos throughout the entire process.
Have any of you heard of this Zimo?

@MrsParcell: Have you tried on any of these dresses? Or similar dresses? If you havent, you should so you know what will look best on your body, then think about getting it made. Dont just pick between photos!! Also, dont forget that some salons will sell you samples of designer dresses if you fall in love with one. Sometimes those can be the cost of a knock off. They dont always sell the sample though but its still great to go in, try some on and ask.

yes. I thought that #3 would be a nice choice too……with the cinderella look. It would be a nice addition to the mansion that we will be married and photographed in front of. Here is an inspiration photo that we are going to recreate. This is The Biltmore Estate.

@MrsParcell: I really do think dress #3 would be perfect with that venue!

I’m not a fan of the pickups either (the little bunches in the skirt is what pickups are). I like dress #2 out of all of them but everyone’s taste is different. If it weren’t we’d all be wearing the same dress!!!! I would suggest trying the dresses on. And don’t limit yourself to one style. Enjoy the experience.
