Hi Ladies! I have two dresses that I absolutely love! I'm getting married in May 2011 in the Florida Keys on the beach at sunset. Please vote for the dress that you think looks best on me and offer any comments and suggestions! I'm concerned about looking short and wide! Thanks for your help!
The first dress is Lazaro 3819. This dress is normally a very expensive dress (which I would never pay that much for), but the store is holding the sample for me at a great price. I love the embroidery on this dress. I feel like it's a dream dress. I'm just concerned that the horizontal line at the mermaid flare makes me look shorter and wider (I'm only 5'3". Please note- I was on a 6 inch platform for all of the pictures below). This dress is a dream dress, I just hope it looks good on me.
The second dress is Lazaro 3003. This dress is more fitted and flares lower (trumpet style). It also has the sweetheart neckline (which is what I originally wanted). I've heard this style makes you look taller and leaner. (any thoughts?) Plus I would get this dress brand new ordered in my size for the same price as the previous sample dress.
I love both dress, but I want objective opinions about what others think is best. I can't wear high heels with either dress so that won't help with my height issues (getting married on the beach- cant' walk in heels on sand).
Please let me know what you think! Thanks for your help!!! :)
Hmmm...Im actually undecided!! I actually like the curves that the first one gives you but I love the flower details on the second one...
You look great in both but number 2 has the curve hugging thing. Looks great :)
I like the shape of the 2nd one better on you, but you look amazing in both!!
I voted for number 1 because I like the style a little more for a beach wedding, but honestly I think they are both absolutely beautiful and you can't go wrong either way!
I love the shape of the first one on you. I like how the top and bottom are seperated by a seam. It looks beautiful on you!
Im a retard and I selected dress 1 on the poll.... but I actually like dress 2 better.
Second one...for a beach wedding you want something light..something you can walk in and its not dragging too much...the other ones are more of a ballroom type dress...I love Lazaro so which ever you pick you can't go wrong!
Wow, those are some nice dresses. I like the second one the best... But I think the higher neckline on the first one (in the full-length picture) might be throwing me off, and it might look better when altered to sit lower, where it looks like it's supposed to be (since it's sitting lower in the closer-up picture).
You are probably right - the horizontal line doesn't give a nice long vertical look like the second dress.
both dresses are stunning but i prefer dress 2. dress one looks whiter on top then the bottom to me.
I tried on #1 and it is a gorgeous dress in person - much much prettier than these pictures are showing. Making the neckline into a sweetheart is very very easy for a good seamstress. And the 2nd fit and flare dress does not go with the beach wedding - that's just my opinion I don't think the vertical line of #1 cuts you in half and makes you look shorter.
So - I voted for #1
I like the details of the second one, but I think dress #1 flatters your shape much more! They're both gorgeous...I can see how this is a tough choice!
I love Lazaro! I have one also :)
I voted for #2 - that neckline on you looks amazing and I as for the first one I think it 'splits' in a weird spot. Second one also will be so awesome for the beach, it's gorgeous
They both look gorgeous on you, but I love the neckline on the second one so much. Either one would be perfect, tbh. :)
I really like the first one. I think the shape really flatters your body (you don't look short or wide) and the material is much better for the beach. Dress number 2 looks very elegant but somehow would be out of place on the beach and if you are on a 6 in. platform, I assume you will need to cut 6 inches off both gowns therefore, I tink the higher flare out is both flattering to your body and can withstand a 6 inch hem.
I'm so happy to see this post up!!! I was hoping you'd have some pics this weekend.
First of all, I think you look AMAZING in both. Can't go wrong with either one.
I said in your other post that I personally prefer trumpet dresses with the fuller flare, and that 3819 is a gorgeous dress, but I hadn't considered the beach wedding aspect. You look like a real mermaid with the second dress and I think it totally fits on a beach. The first skirt would be more difficult to carry around in the sand. And looks like the beauty of the details translate in photos better for 3003, so that would be my choice. 3819 does look two-toned in that pic..Is that a bad flash issue?
As for the no heels issue, here's a thought...Since you have plenty of time to custom order that one, you can have them measure you and order to have the flare starting 1-2 inches higher. Lazaro charges $300 for each custom change but if you can find a trunk show they will usually throw it in as a comp (that's what they did for me).
After seeing these, I am once again optimistic for my dress, which has the embroidery of dress #2 but shape of dress #1 :) Hope I look as nice in it as you do. I got the call today that it will be in Mid-April!
i love the first gown so much on you. the only change i would make is having it altered to a bit more of a defined sweetheart.
I like the 1st one - I think your proportions look better with the "higher" place where the skirt begins, vs. the other one that poofs out much lower on your legs.
You're so adorable...I'm sure you looked great in tons of dresses ;) But I agree with the majority on this one...I LOOOOVE the second dress!
Both dresses look stunning on you, but I prefer the sweetheart neckline so I say #2!
Thanks for all of your comments!!! Many of you have said great things and mentioned aspects of the dress that I never thought of. Dress 1 does look a little two-toned in the pictures. I think that may be a lighting/flash issue because the material on the top of the dress is different than the bottom, but I'll have to inspect that closely when I go back.
@meliss-Thanks for the advice on the custom ordering. I'll definetly keep that in mind.
@I blew the budget- I agree. My pictures don't do Dress 1 justice. The embroidery is so beautiful in person, but that's one of my concerns....the embroidery of Dress 1 may get lost in pictures, especially outside in bright light.
I'll make my decision on April 29th when my Mom flies down, she's seen the pictures and she's torn too! But all of your comments and suggestions are really helping with the decision making process, keep them coming! Thanks! :)
I voted #2; I don't like the horizontal line on #1. You are gorgeous and look beautiful in both!
I love love love the first one! I tried on many dropped waist dresses and I find them to be the most flattering. I've tried moving in the trumpet style, and I hate how hard it is to walk and move and I feel so constrained, on a beach that might be a problem to consider.
I don't think you look short, and even if you are short - I am in firm believer in loving your God-given figure cause there's nothing you can do to change it anyhow... just remember, the guy who is marrying you is marrying YOU. so don't be someone on your wedding day that you're not... just a little thought.
but anyway, I love the first one!
Honey-you wouldn't look wide in a burlap sack! I like #1. I am only 5'1 (and 1/2"), and very curvy, and against popular opinion, I donned a tight sheath..and ROCKED IT. Get what you love. People told me I looked stunning, and I felt beautiful-it's the ONLY dress I ever liked.
I think the line between the bodice and skirt on the first one kind of chops you up a bit, but if it's significantly cheaper, both are beautiful! Especially if you're not very short, being made to look a little shorter might be just fine. At 5'3" I couldn't afford to be chopped up.
i love both but the second one gives that "WOW" factor... :)
Wow, the second one looks amazing on you and I think it makes you look tall. Both are very pretty but I vote for #2
I like #2 better on you... but really you can't go wrong with either one!
I like the second one too. The first seems too much for your little frame. The second pic looks like you are wearing the dress, not the dress wearing you. I love how it gives you great curves!
I may be a little biased but the 3819 is my gown and I love it!! Honestly, though, I think it looks a lot better on you and is way more flattering to your petite figure. The 3819 actually elongates your bady because of the dropped waist where the other one makes you look shorter and like you're trying the look taller.
Unless there's something really wrong with the sample, I'd say go with the 3819. let us know which one you chose!!!
i love sweetheart necklines however the first dress is gorgeous on you! so i say the first one :)
