Ok–a little about me. I’m 40, first engagement. We want to do a smallish ceremony at a 1890’s B&B in Arkansas in the garden. I’m a curvy 12. I look FABULOUS in both dresses. I don’t really like doing what other folks do….so the fact that there are so many Maggie Milana brides kind of throws me off (very popular dress!)….but I have seriously only found one woman online with the Casablanca dress for sale….so maybe it is not as beautiful as I think??? :sigh:
My top two:
My curves are awesome in this even without a corset back. We tried it on with a trumpet slip to give it more poof…a bit too much, but I would have to get barely any hemmed on it.
Oh–here is the ad for the woman who is selling hers.. she has a good sized bottom and looks AWESOME in it, I think. In fact, I think her pics are better than the Casa pics in a way!
Now, I fell in love with the Milana, but I am only 5-2..and Maggie only does 3 or 5 inches off the front hem–no custom sizing. I’m not real keen on losing all that tulle (what makes the dress!), nor am I keen on paying big bucks for alterations on a $800 dress. I have asked if the lace applique can be raised..and they said it would be a lot of $$. I have also tried it on with a Trumpet Slip…which helped a bit…I just think the ‘poof’ starts too low for me….
Edit–based on Dance’s comment (Thanks, btw!)–I meant to say that I think the poof on the Milana will always start too low unless I pay big bucks for alts.. before I knew of the Casa dress, I felt certain the Milana was THE DRESS. It was only when we started talking chopping off 5 INCHES of tulle in the front that I got super nervous about scale. Too many darn episodes of Say Yes to the Dress where (if you pay 5K) you can have everything perfectly designed for you.
