I like the first, but neither bowled me over. What about something a little flirtier? Maybe a short dress or something with a little more pizzazz?
thanks! please feel free to post "wow" pics of dresses you like too!
I like the top one more. But the comment about a shorter flirtier dress is a good idea also :)
the first one is more unique because it isnt like most wedding gowns.. the 2nd one looks more like a regular modern bridal gown.. i love silk dupioni but the 2nd gown is a bit too busy for my taste.. neither of them are "wow" factor dresses tho in my book atleast.
my ceremony dress is a lace dress that's like a typical english style wedding dress, body hugging etc with lots of beading and straps.
do you have ideas of wow dresses? or feel free to post yours!
if I had to choose I would take the first one but honestly neither give me the wow factor.and #2 is way to busy for me,..so your looking for a reception dress?? then go sexy what is your body shape? provais has amazing dresses.
to be honest the wow factor is gonna come from the wedding dress itself than the reception dress... atleast thats what i'm used to. the reception dress is usually something a bit more normal like a cocktail/party dress, whilst the wedding gown takes peoples breath away with the whole ensemble of gown +veil
Hmm, when I think "wow", Vera Wang usually comes to mind. You ceremony dress sounds lovely... why don't you want to wear it for the reception too?

hi there, yeah i did try vera, but since i'm a "big" bride, i only tried a few at the store... seems that her stuff is not very suited for those with hips... i tried the diana and it was "ok" but it didnt help my figure at all. unless there's a dress i'm missing?!
oh, im getting married overseas where it's actually the oppostie. the ceremoney dress is supposed to be more casual, but i'm wearing the lace as it's more "traditional" the reception dress is supposed to be the wow one. here's a pic of the lace to give you an idea. i've lost weight (very little :P) but will have a sash for more defined waist.

If i was getting a reception dress, I'd have to go with this one: http://priscillaofboston.com/dress_detail.jsp?gid=1&sfid=51142&f2=Short because I like having a short dress for the second dress.
However, I LOVE both of the dresses you posted, and especially love the first!
The first dress made me squeak. SO gorgeous! Oh man, that's nice... And I've not see a wedding dress like it before...
The second dress is more crazy and WOW but the first dress is so beautiful. I love the first dress.
I voted for the first dress, it looks beautiful. The second dress looks too heavy.
guys you are killing me!! i also "squeaked" and held my breath when i saw the first. in real life it is STUNNING. i feel that i can also wear it again, so not a total loss. i have to wear two dresses because my ceremony is a different day than the reception. my FI just quickly peaked in and he likes the flowered one, his reaction to to the yellow was that it was also nice, but not "very" nice. of course i've bombarded him with like 100 dress pics so hopefully by the time we get married he wont remember! thing is i have a gorgeous veil that matches the lace perfectly but doesnt go so well with the yellow... and the reception i usually should walk in with a veil. hence my hesitation with the yellow. also the reception might be a little on the conventional side since it's overseas... so not sure about the reaction to a "yellowish" wedding dress.
to the girl that asked, the yellow is a junko yoshioka spring 2011 let me know if you get it!
so here are my options really:
1.: wear a normal evening gown (which is traditional) for the ceremony, then the lace dress to enter the reception and then change into the yellow gown.
2.: wear the lace gown to the ceremony, then the yellow or the flower gown for the reception.
I really love that first dress! The flower one looks sort of "messy" to me, whereas the first one is super chic.
@arousa1979nyc: Girl, if you are squeaking and breath-holding at a dress, there is no need to ask the Bee. You know what dress you want. And personally, I love the that dress. It's amazing and totally unique. Go for it!
hey guys, here's another few photos of the yellow dress to give you more of an idea, see it's kind of more yellow than taupe. and i probably would wear a yellow rhinestone belt with it and bird cage/flower head piece. but with this dress i'd have to either wear it for the ceremony (not like a church one, it's supposed to be less formal than the reception) or change into it after in the evening.

i like the 1st one better, but i think it needs something added to really give it more pizzazz
here are more pics of the second http://boards.weddingbee.com/topic/which-dress-has-more-wow-unique-factor
guys should i go for the pink or the yellow ombre? it also comes in blue!
The first dress is so incredibly sophisticated. I love it. I have never seen anything like it, and that's "wow" worthy, to me.
As for the pink or yellow--that's up to you and other elements of your wedding. I wonder if the pink might be a bit too Gwen Stefani, though (even though she had a huge, non-floaty gown). I personally would go blue.
You could add some cool earrings or a statement necklace in the ombre color. There are definite possibilities with that dress.
Ooo. Blue. Is traditional, represents purity et al. If not blue, then pink. The yellow might look dirty, but neither pink nor blue will look dirty at all.
I'm not sure if its the color but I'm not loving the first one. Personal opinion the Junko dress looks like its trying to hard to be a "wow" dress. What if you went with a dress with a lot more color, it seems like you really want to make an impact? My friend wore this Vera Wang, but had pieces dyed dark purple at the bottom as well as the strap at the top, honestly I'm more of a traditionalist but when she came out it was a WOW moment.
that's a gorgeous dress, but frankly, i'd look like a cow! if i had a smaller figure, or half of mine, it would be a big contender!
thanks though!
@arousa1979nyc - lol! I don't think so though! I'm not sure what size you are but my friend is a street size 16, not sure what the wedding dress size was. The giant bow and full skirt made her waist actually look tiny!
ugh i'm stuck now! to go with the yellow, pink or blue!!! i totally get the "dirty" bit about the yellow... and i'd like to think i'm rockstar enough to pull off the pink. the blue is more traditional but not sure how 'wearable' it will be if i wearit again later. would i be too much of a copy cat if i wore the it in pink? yellow is more classic though right?
i really like both, but at second thought, the first dress kind of reminds me of a yellow tinted sheet that was draped around the body and cinched with a belt. maybe i'm thinking that because i just found a sheet that my previous cats urinated on...
but it's strange because i still like it. lol.
I love the first one and I'm not crazy about the second. The first is much more unique. I'm not a fan of a lot of ruching/gathering/pickups/etc. but the first one has such a beautiful shape.
I don't really think the first one has a "wow" factor, it just isn't white. Which considering the number of dresses that have pops of color in them isn't really a wow factor. I think the 3D elements in the second one have way more "wow" then the pop of color in the first.

fyi, i'm a curvy street size 10-12
dress 1 is a goldenyellow at bottom and in organza, very floaty
dress 2 is 100% silk duponi
