A bit about me:
Afte trying on a gajillion wedding gowns, it became apparent to me that I do not like traditional wedding gowns (on myself). So, I want a shorter dress. Something different, and very *me*. I happen to have four options, and would love some help deciding! I care a medium amount about making others happy (aka “looking like a bride”) and I care a LOT about feeling comfortable. I would describe my ideal style as a bit punk/rockabilly, altenative, yet conservative. Not sure if that helps!
#1. This is a vintage dress, ivory in colour. Rose pattern. Fits perfectly. I loved this dress until I found out how disappointed my mother was. She deems it too simple, too cutesy. I would wear it in a heartbeat but it has the tiniest bit of fraying just waiting to happen… I guess that’s what happens when a dress is 60 years old! But I could still wear it. Don’t be swayed by the good lighting, and the fact that my hair and makeup are done in this photo 😉
#2. This is the only dress option that is white. Granted, it is white with silvery threads in a chevron patten, which I LOVE. Super fun, different. I don’t care if people like it, but I do want to look good. I dropped this dress at the tailor’s today, as it needs to be taken in. In the photo I’m holding it tight at the back. Hair and makeup are not done, lighting is… very bright. Keep that in mind. The back has a somewhat deep v and looks cool. I added the belt (it looks more silve in real life, and matches the dress’s silver threads).
This is anothe one of those “holding it tight at the back” dresses. Too big. I have ordered a new size that is smaller. This dress is ivory, and very fancy. Probably the most likely to make my mother (and othes) happy. I might love it, but I am very uncomfortable about the cost. This option is the most expensive, and is a gift from my parents (if I don’t return it). I love the look, feel fancy, but worry about the little beads etc coming off or getting screwed up. I see this as a high maintenance dress. Maybe that’s wedding dresses, and I just have to deal.
#4. I feel like the fit of this dress is very flatteirng. No alterations needed. The colour is kind of buff or light beige. Not white or ivory. I think I like this colour the least, but the fit is really nice. So, I dunno.
Alright, bees! Help a gal out! Let me know what you think, and please be kind – I am very emotionally fragile right now. Wedding planning is stress city!
