Hi ladies! I’m a longtime lurker, but this is my first post. 🙂
It seems like I have been trying on dresses forever. Been to 5 salons already (I know, I know). I have a tiny dilemma. I think I know which dress I will end up getting, I just wanted some neutral feedback from you Bees! Both dresses cost pretty much the same, so price isn’t a factor.
Mori Lee 1862- Lace dress with the belt: I didn’t have the “moment” with this dress, but I love it so much more after leaving the salon and seeing the photos. In person, I loved the lace, but I wasn’t blown away by it because there was no sparkle. But I feel like it is so classic, timeless, and so me. If I buy this one, I would buy a better belt.
Embroidered dress with bust detail: I had the “moment” with this dress, but after looking at pictures, I changed my mind. Its just not something I would usually choose bc it is a bit trendier. I know it sounds silly, but I feel like it isn’t me. It has a corset back. I don’t like corsets, but I know corsets flatters my figure more. I guess I am unsure because I feel this dress isn’t as classic and timeless as the other one. I don’t know who the designer is for the dress because they took the tags off and wouldn’t tell me.
I guess I’m just a little torn because I love the lace dress, but I didn’t get that feeling when I tried it on. I made appointments to try them on again tomorrow, so I will have to update you all on what I decide!

I love the lace dress… I love lace. You can add the bling with the belt and accessories! Thats what I am doing with my dress!
Congrats and welcome to the Hive!!!

@MLDoddie: Thank you! I’m a lover of lace too. 🙂

i like that the lace flows… i feel the other is too choppy? so much beading around the hips and not anywhere else. i vote #1!

I’m a HUGE lace fan, but for some reason I prefer you in that 2nd dress.
“I don’t know who the designer is for the dress because they took the tags off and wouldn’t tell me. ”
I HATE that some bridal salons do that. THat would get me very grumpy.

I chose the 2nd dress. I don’t think the dress itself is “trendy”…the style is probably considered trendy but who really cares as long as you love it. And the whole “timeless” thing…this used to a problem for me too and then I thought, I’m wearing my dress NOW not 50 years from now! (and the whole, my daughter could wear it argument is silly because I don’t know a single person who did or even would wear their mothers dress). Not knocking girls who choose to wear their mother’s dress or choose a dress because it’s “timeless”, I just think you should choose your dress because of the way it makes you feel now, not how you could feel years from now.
Anyways, enough of my rambling…the 2nd dress is just so beautiful and looks great on you!

I’m voting for dress #1 you do look beautiful in both butthere’s something about the first dress!

They’re both stunning on you but I love the lace one on you. The embroidery on the second one stop too abruptly at the flare. The lace just flows better.

@svah: wow im loving that mori lee ; ) beautiful on you!

I hate when boutiques will not tell you the model of the dress. I actually refused to buy my dress at a boutique that did that, and made sure to tell them that that was a big one of the reasons they lost my business.
I hope you are able to figure out the designer dress name, and buy it from a more honest boutique!
I think both dresses are absolutely GORGEOUS on you… and if you don’t like the corset back, you can get it altered to be whatever you want (buttons, zipper). Or, you could add some sparkle to the lace one with a nicer belt as you had mentioned.
You can’t go wrong with either dress! They’re both amazing.

Oh, you ladies are making it hard for me to choose! 🙂 All great opinions though.
@lovelyduckie: I know! The consultant was very nice about it– she even explained that they do it because people will try the dresses on and then go find it elsewhere for cheaper. But she was new and didn’t know the designer/model number. She was going to find it out and tell me, but we were running late to the next appointment, so I never got it from her.
@IzzyBear: Thank you! One of the consultants told me the same thing. Haha. 🙂
@serendipitywedding2014: I remember thinking that while trying the dress on. I was having the moment and kept thinking, “I love this!” and at the same time “but the skirt flares out so awkwardly”.

I think you look great in the first dress but I just went wow when I saw you in the second dress. It looks like it was made for you and looks fresh and unique not trendy.

I personally like the 2nd dress on you better, but it sounds like you have your mind already made up! Go with the one your gut says (its usually right). And besides they are both beautiful on you so I don’t think you could go wrong either way. 🙂
Good luck tomorrow!

I agree with you that the 2nd dress really shows off your shape, but I think with a better belt and the right alterations, the 1st dress will, too! And I think the first one looks more feminine and romantic! My vote is #1!
