Hi Ladies, many of you know that I have already bought a dress...however I found this other dress that I am absolutely head over heals for. Today I drove 50 miles to Denver to try it on and I LOOOOOVE IT, just as much as the dress I already own. I cant decide which one I want to go with. Please help me decide...The first dress is the one I already own, the 2nd is the new one.

    Opinions, please!

Both dresses are gorgeous so I see the dilemma. You might want to make this post a poll so that you can see how many people vote for which gown (some people only vote and don't leave a comment).

I think that both dresses look equally good on you, but I prefer the dress that you already bought - it is unique yet elegant and timeless. I think that you would be less likely to look back at your pictures 20 years from now and second guess your dress decision. Plus, you bought the dress for a reason...you obviously loved it at the time and still do. :)

The first dress....was a sample...and I think I felt pressured as it was the ONLY one and i might lose it if I didnt purchase it at the time that I did...i dont think I really love it as much as I thought I did :/

If you don't love it as much as you thought, and you love the second and it fits in your budget and everything... go for it! Honestly, I think they both look fantastic on you. And I agree with the PP that said the first is more classic and timeless. But that second dress is absolutely fabulous!! I loveeee all the ruffles. It's just really gorgeous.

While both are pretty, I don't personally like the 2nd one as much as the first!

I like the first one MUCH better. The second is much more trendy and fashion-y (is that a word, lol?) The first one is classic and elegant.

I like them both, but if you have your heart set on the new one, I'd go for it, as you are only able to do this one time in your life! Just make sure that it fits into your budget!

The first one! Frankly I really dislike the second one. I like the bodice but the skirt does nothing for me. I like ruffles, don't get me wrong, I just don't like *those* ruffles. It's very haphazard and petticoat-y. It looks, to me, like something you'd wear UNDER a dress, to give it major fluff. It's trendy, and i'm very anti-trendy so I may not be someone you want to listen to at all! =]

I really really like the first one! It's gorgeous. But hey, if you don't love it, you gotta go with what makes you happy!

I should prbably state that I would probably consider my style to be more trendy and funky, rather than elegant as you ladies describe it. When I first went out to look at dresses, the 2nd dress is more of what I had in mind...something different and fun. I want more of a "fun" looking dress. I think more so want to know which one LOOKS better on me, rather than just focuses on the dress style itself...

Despite the fact that I reeeeally do not like the second one at all, I can say without bias that Dress #1 LOOKS much better on you. Style aside, Dress 1 makes you look much thinner than dress 2. Also, I just do not like Dress 2 at all. It looks like a white prom dress to me.

I vote for #1!  It's classic and timeless and I love the ivory color.  The 2nd one does nothing for me.  I am not a fan of corset backs, and I have to agree with @ejs4y8 that it's very trendy.

But honestly, go with what YOU love.  I totally feel ya on this one... I was down to two dresses as well, both very different styles.  I loved both dresses equally... I finally made my decision based on logistics and cost (the one I chose was $300 cheaper).

By the way, why are you STILL shopping for dresses when you've already purchased one??  It's going to be a looooooong road full of dresses until your wedding date unless you stop looking!!  :)

I have had my eye on the 2nd dress since before i ever went dress shopping, but then i tried on the 1st one and loved it and was super pressured since its discontinued and it was the last one and id have to buy it off the rack, but then after all i could think about was the 2nd one, so i had to go try it on to get it off my brain.

@alishadhs4 - if you love the 2nd one, go for it!  It seems that it fits your personality more.  Classic and timeless is for some brides, and then there are those of us out there who like to be a little bit more edgy.  This is your wedding, it should be exactly what you want :)   The second one has so much personality and sass...it  screams glamour.

Our reception is at a brewery in a historic building downtown also, not a country club...which might help with the theme....

Oh wow, the second one is awesome!

The good side of the second one is that it's SO unique! I've never seen a dress quite like it. And it's really cool.

The possible bad side is that is it so unique and trendy NOW that in 10 years are you going to look back and go "What was I thinking?"

The first one is pretty and classic. So it's really about how you feel on those points...

Im so torn! This sucks...its seriously starting to depress me. Also, in these pictures I am not wearing a petticoat under the 1st one so i guess it looks kinda flat...ugggh!

@thecolorteal...you make a good point about the 10 yrs from now fashion aspect of it...but ahhh i love it so much NOW!

After hearing your thoughts about both dresses and seeing more pictures, I want to change my mind and vote for #2!!! If your style is funky/fun AND your wedding venue isn't traditional then I think that the second dress would be perfect! You would definitely get everyone's attention.

To be honest, I looked at both dresses before reading what you wrote and decided that I liked the second dress better!! But...I was thinking about the fact that it is really trendy/fashion forward so that is why I voted for the first one.

If you love it...you should definitely get it!!! I was just like you in dress shopping because I was pressured into buying a dress and couldn't stop thinking about another gown. If you have already bought your dress and are still shopping then that should definitely tell you something :) Listen to your gut feelings! I have a feeling that if you bought dress #2, you wouldn't want to look at any other gowns!

I vote for the first one.  Honestly, I think the second one looks like the dress is inside out, or you forgot to put on the dress and are just wearing the slip.  It looks too ruffly for me, but that's just me, since I'm not a ruffly, fluffly person.  You said you felt pressured into getting the first one because it was on sale, but you also said you loved the first one.  In general, I've learned that going with your gut is the best thing... what does your gut say?

If you are more of a funky/trendy kind of girl, the second one. Crazy ruffles aside, it is more flattering on your body. Gives you an hourglass shape that the first one didn't. Granted, I see it has a corset and all corset dresses do that for your figure.  BUT, i think if you don't want to spend a bunch more money, you could have a sweetheart neckline added to dress #1. I always have loved sweetheart necks. And add a corset to dress #1. I really love dress #2 down to the skirt...then, not so much. But, if it fits you it fits you. Just make sure you do it for the right reasons. A second dress can be a financial burden! Do you lvoe dress #2 to go down that road? Cuz you say you like dress #1, too. Sometimes the grass just seems greener on the other side. i went through this, too =]

Which one is more like your personality? The first one seems much more simple, romantic, and almost shy and innocent. The second one seems vibrant and outgoing. (Yeah...I totally just gave dresses personalities!). I love them both though :)

I dont really care if it has a corset or not, the first one is just zip up. However, I do like the sweetheart neckline...is it hard to change this?

A corsetted back can really give you a super snug fit, that's all. No, a sweetheart neckline is not difficult to add on, especially with a simpler bodice like that. Without sounding creepy, your chest looks perkier and fuller in the second dress. Not in a gross way, whereas it gets overwhelmed by all the fabric in dress #1. A sweetheart would give you more shape and cover less. But sometimes less is mroe when it's done right. Sorry i just creeped all over your boobs =]. Mine are hard to fit so I'm always really conscious of how they look including other peoples. Boy that makes me sound creepy Tongue out

hahaha thanks! im paranoid about making it into a sweetheart because im sure every seamstress has a different idea of their perfect sweetheart neckline...but i suppose i could always being in some pictures for insiration.

Also, if i go with number 1, i am goin to be removing the ribbon...

#1-You "don't think you really love it" and #2-"you love it so much"....I think you answered your own question.  When you read the posts saying they liked #1 better or didn't like #2 did you feel relieved that you made the right decision or disappointed they didn't like #2 as much as you did....or just add to the confusion? :)  There is always the pressure of "will people like my dress?", but at the end of the day it really is a great feeling to LOVE your dress...you're more comfortable and confident.   #1 is sweet and romantic, #2 is an elegant show stopper that a lot of people couldn't pull off (but you obviously can very well).  If you can, sleep on it for a day or two...if not, go with your heart.

I plan on sleeping on it until next weekend. Wedding isnt until June so I have some time... See, I think they are both romantic...number 1 is a bit more blingy with allll the beading and sequiny stuff and number 2 is a lot more simple in the bodice. I am disappointed that the ladies dont like number 2 as much just because ive seen some other really funky dresses on girls from the site and they have gotten great reactions. I know its a little different, but for some reason it intriques me...but yes, all in all, i am extremely confused :(  And of course another concern is trying to sell the first dress if i do go with the other one....::sigh::

I think it would be easy to sell the first one since it is so classic.

And the second one takes a certain taste to appreciate it's awesomeness :D :D

By the way who makes the second one???

I think there is a general bias towards the dress someone already owns. We subconsciously assume that people are second-guessing their choice and try to affirm it. But from what you are saying here, I'm definitely liking the second one better. The first one is really beautiful and I don't think you'd be making a mistake by keeping it (although I agree with your other post where it might look better with a soft sweetheart neckline), but the second one is just more awesome. ;) It looks great on you, and it's really unique.

I very much prefer the first one over the 2nd one, it is so beautiful and dainty, while the 2nd one feels overdone and too much of a dress, if you know what I mean...And since you already bought the first one, why torture yourself with this other dress? You look so pretty in the first one too!

I prefer the first dress but that is me. Have you asked your friends/family what they think? Maybe knowing you they could give you a better opinion. Really it is all about what makes you happy. I think it's smart not to rush to change your mind & that you are sleeping on it. Once you do make sure you post again saying which one you picked with pictures of you in it and then enjoy all the compliments, it will help make you feel reassured & you look good in both so you're golden!

Although I agree with everyone that the first dress is timeless and elegant (and less of a chance you'll look back in 20 years at pics and think they're dated), based on your reactions to the second dress, and as each person picks #1, you give them a reason to lean towards #2, it tells me that your heart is with #2. Go with your heart!!  Will you dream about that dress, think of it often throughout the day and generally be sad thinking you made a mistake if you don't buy it? Well, go with your gut!

I will say...I was dress shopping last week and my companion said it's just like finding the right man..look long and hard, go with your heart and don't second guess yourself. Amen!

Good luck and let us know what you decide!

If you love #1 and you already own it... well, that would be the practical choice.

Personally, I prefer #1 on you because it seems to be more flattering in the torso and bust area.

Now, if you feel more beautiful, more bridal in #2, you should definitely go with #2. I believe that the bride should feel like a bride, whatever that takes.
