I’m having a hard time making a dress decision, so I wanted to open it up to my fellow bees to get some feedback.
I’m more interested in your opinions on the dresses themselves, but here are some additional details if you are curious:
Wedding is in June 2014, in Northern California wine country. Ceremony will be at a Church, reception in an outdoor venue, in the evening. Bridesmaids are wearing a variety of dresses in blush and gold, cocktail length. Overall feel will be more modern, than rustic. Lots of bold, 3 dimensional DIY touches, like giant crepe paper flowers. Part of me loves the modern/minimalist aesthetic, and the other part of me loves sparkles, tulle, and all things girly. My Fiance on the other hand is 100% modern/minimalist, a la J Crew.
Dress 1: Yenny Yoo Georgeann Dress (Would skip the crinkled sash for a thin, silver crystal sash with a gold ribbon tie) Love the dress itself, but feel it isn’t as flattering as it could be on me.
Dress 2: Alfred Angelo – Cinderella (would wear with a thin gold sash, no sparkes on the sash) Love this dress on, but feel like it might be too formal for a summer outdoor wedding in wine country?
Dress 3: Watters Bridesmaids Line – Laura in Ivory or Blush (would wear with an ivory sash) So new, I can’t try it on anywhere (yet) but I feel like this shape would be flattering on me, and it would be the perfect dress to go with my modern / diy aesthetic.
Which of these dresses do you like best? Feedback welcome!

I think #2 is gorgeous and it looks amazing on you!!

@atmospherebride: i love dress 2 the most, but yes it is too formal for your venue (or maybe not, you decide). i wish there was an in between of 1 and 2.

Definitely #2!!! The second one looks amazing on your body. You don’t need a sash with it at all. The first one is pretty, but you are right, it really is just meh on your body.

I initially picked the first one because it’s a nice balance between minimalist and blingy and matches the style of the venue. On the other hand, it doesn’t really do justice to your figure- you’re totally rocking #2. So can I change my vote 🙂

I love #2 on you! The shape really shows off your body, while I think the first dress is just really really bland.
Is it absolutely down to these two or are you still open to looking at more dresses?

I would say number 2 out of the ones you showed. But I also think you have a lovely figure and maybe you should try on more dresses.

first = not so flattering, i dont like the top of it either.
second = absolutely gorgeous, great fit for your shape, and very beautiful cut and style. love the fishtail.
third = a bit plain, and not sure about the shape.
conclusion. nr 2 wins by 10 miles. xx

Thanks so much for the feedback ladies! I’ve admittedly been leaning towards #2 as well. I went in not wanting a mermaid shape, and not neccessarily looking for that “princess” feeling, and go figure, I find myself loving the Disney Princess CINDERELLA dress, in a mermaid shape. ha!
I am actually doing some more shopping this evening! I wanted to process my thoughts on these three dresses before I went back! I wouldnt mind a slightly less embellished dress in a similar shape… I’ll see what they’ve got that I can try on like that. The outdoor venue is in the middle of a hotel courtyard, so I think the Cinderella dress wouldn’t necessarily be over the top for the venue, but I definitely have some room to go less formal.

Did you try on the Jenny Yoo ‘Hathaway’ gown? It was my second choice and I think it would look lovely on you

what about this one? It seems like it combines elements of all 3!
bonus: it’s real silk! (click on picture to go to anntaylor site.)

@atmospherebride: I realy do love the cinderella dress on you, but since you said you have more of a modern/minimalist theme to your wedding, I think if you tried on more mermaids and fit&flares in different styles then you might find something that fits your venue/theme a bit better. That style just seems to suit you and show off your figure way better.

I think you should keep looking. The second one definitely looks the best on you, I would look for a figure hugging dress. Hopefully you can try on the third dress soon, I like that one a lot too!

a combination of all three would be perfect but I vote keep looking

Dress 2 looks the best and is more flattering!
