I actually like flatware A better in general.
But if you are set on flatware B, go for it! I don't think they are so informal that they will look weird with your china.
I like the look of flatware B. It's much more fun! Plus I think the slight curves to it goes nicely with the china pattern.
I personally don't like flatware B, but if it's your taste, I think you should get that one. Will you feel resentful towards flatware A if you're "forced" to get it just to match the rarely-used china?
Does FI dig choice B as much as you? If so, just go for it. Don't worry about it matching with your china - especially if you aren't going to use it all the time.
You could just keep both on your registry... but that's a lot of flatware!
you sound like you like flatware B better, and if your FH likes it too, I say go for it!
Thanks ladies. I'm still torn, so any more votes would be appreciated!
I like flatware A better, but if you like B better, I'd go with that, as long as you think your opinion won't change down the road. B is trendy, and will you still like it in 5 years?
I voted for flatware A but now that I think about it, I'd like to change my vote. I have to say, A is OK, but just OK, IMO. I really like flatware B, but I don't think it will work with your china. If you really love B, I'd suggest either (1) keep looking for something fun that matches your formal china or (2) just go to ikea or target post wedding and buy a cheap set of plain inexpensive flatware that you can use on the few occasions you pull out your china.
I voted for A because it is timeless. 25-30 years fom now, it will still be elegant on your table. But go with whatever makes you the most happy!
Flatware B looks cool, but I think they would feel uncomfortable to actually use for eating.. don't forget to think about that when choosing what you'll be holding for meals every day!
I'm not a fan of B... I vote for A.
What are the handles of B made of? Hard to tell from the pic, but they look like black rubber?
I liked the B style in my late 30's, but would not have it out on my table now that I've traveled. Simple and balanced is the way to go.
For me B is a very trendy set & they are great fun.
With that said I wouldn't buy them personally. I tend to be more about investment pieces - I would go with something more like A.
I personally would choose A. B is totally fun, but A is guaranteed to still be classy and timeless in 20 years. You might be hosting grandparents (or grandchildren!) or colleagues in the future, and A is very sensible for many years and occasions.

We originally registered for flatware A:
But I was recently in BB&B and fell in love with flatware B:
I love it because they are really pretty and modern, but have a nice rustic feel to them, which is definitely in line with my taste. They are awesome for everyday, but are they too informal for our china? (Pic below.) We'll probably only bust out the china a couple of times a year, so I find it really impractical to have a separate set of flatware for more formal occasions. Should I stick with flatware A because it translates better to the formal setting, or will B work just as well? Thanks bees!
Here's our china - we also have brown and green accent plates:
