We're actually doing the exact scrapbook idea! We're also letting guests write around some of our engagement photos.
Both of your ideas are ones that we're toying around with. There's a great link in the DIY section on DIY sheets like those of the making memories ones and they turned out great!!! I'll try and find the link and post it for you.
Maybe to make it less tedious, you could make it one sided and then have less sections to fill out, maybe the ones that would be most important to you?
I like the idea of the scrapbook as well, although it might get difficult having everyone sign at once, or getting the signatures spread out over different pages instead of just a few... maybe give each table their own scrapbook page to write msgs on, and then have your photog or someone take pics of each table, and use those for the middle section?

I LOVE the idea of creating your own wedding guest book. I think that you can personalize it to exactly what you want. You could put in photos from your lives together pre-wedding as well as engagement photos. Make sure to include funny ones from holidays, outings, etc. These could inspire stories and other advice/well wishes from people who were there at the time the photos were taken.
Thanks for all of your input everyone :) I ended up going with the 'wedding memories' one... mostly because time considerations.

I have two different ideas for the guest book... and as the wedding is only a month away, I'm realizing I need to make this decision ASAP! Please let me know which idea you like better:
Option 1: The Guestbook store 'wedding memories' guestbook. Its the top one here. The FI and I like how this one directs our guests to tell lots of little tidbits and stories and has room for creative expression. We want more than just a list of names of people who were there, and this gives so much more.
Option 2: This one is a little more DIY... We'd get a scrapbook then block out a section in the middle to add pictures from the wedding after we get those back. But, during the reception, we would leave the area around where the picture will go to have people sign. I'd also make a little sign to prompt them to leave us a wish, advice, memories they have of us and/or anything else they have to say.
We do like both of the ideas, and they'd end up costing about the same amount. Our worries are that with the first one, not everyone would take the time to fill it out and that its a bit too detailed... but our worries with the second are that we'll get more generic messages and that it will end up having fewer personal messages. I guess they both have their pros and cons... What do you think?
