I'm catching up on all of my doctor's appointments and made two today - one for the dentist and one for the gyno.
Most people think I'm crazy, but I'm dreading the dentist WAY more than I'm dreading the gyno. The gyno is uncomfortable and embarrassing, but the dentist hurts and I have an irrational fear of going.
Am I the only one?
haha, so true! my gyno is this really sweet woman who has this calm, gentle demeanor, and the dentist hurts way more!

No of course you're not the only one...For some reason I hate hate hate going to the dentist. I don't have any reason for not liking the dentist - I mean there isn't anything traumatic that has happened to me and I do love the way my teeth feel and look 72 hrs after the appointment, haahaahaa
Ohhh, I don't mind the gyno. But the dentist is the WORST. And the appointment takes so much longer than gyno.
Well, your dentist shouldn't HURT unless you're having a procedure done, i.e. for your 6 month cleanings you should be pain free. If they hurt you while cleaning your teeth they're not doing a good job.
I'm kinda surprised, but the "privacy" factor for me made me choose gyno. I'd much rather endure pain, lol.
I totally agree! I go to the denist when I'm supposed to (No cavities YET) but I hate it. I always leave in pain, gums bleeding, headache. Yuck! And the chances that you'll need some kind of further work done are far higher than at the gyno. The gyno is uncomfortable, but less than the dentist. I mean, showing your junk to a stranger is never cool. But at least they're not cleaning it and shoving sharp objects into it.
I don't mind the gyno so much either. I'd rather go to the gyno than the dentist. But since you have to do both...such is life.
No way - though I hate going to the dentist, at least they numb my mouth. The gyno hurts every, single, time, and I can't get used to it. Maybe it's just me, but I absolutely dread the gyno.
I hate, hate, hate the dentist. It always hurts. Gynecologist only hurts when he takes a biopsy.
I HATE going to the doctor (any doctor, not just for the lady parts!).
I, for some reason, have never minded the dentist. In fact, I have been known to fall asleep at the dentist.
I would SO prefer to show people my mouth than my hoo-ha.
wow, i must be in the minority here but i'd rather go to the dentist anyday!!! i have way more anxiety of the gyno....waaaaaaaaaaaaaayyyyyyy more. I dread it all year. Heck gimme a root canal instead!!
(i am biased though cause FI is a dentist) 
I don't mind the gyno at all. It's so easy, quick (umm, hello, the whole thing takes like 60 seconds) and always pain-free.
The dentist, on the other hand, is always painful. I truly hate it. I'll also admit, it's been a few years since I've gone because I dread it that much. I've had awful experiences with dentists poking at my gums and stuff. Just thinking about it gives me anxiety.
The gyno only takes two second, but a cleaning can be up to an hour! I stopped going to the dentist for about 5 yrs because I have such extreme anxiety, but I go to the gyno 2x per year without a problem. Good luck!
Ahahahha I dread the Gyno! Well actually at my last dentist appointment I had to take care of my very first crown and it hurt like no other, but the discomfot of the gyno still wins for me
I have never had a problem with the dentist. Annoying and uncomfortable? Yes, but not as bad as my yearly physical!
Dentist is way worse! I think I'm just used to going to the gyno, but never go to the dentist. Plus, I have REALLY sensitive teeth. Just the thought makes my mouth hurt!!!! And the dentist hurts all day and then some, while the gyno is only for a short time.
You're right the dentist does hurt, but the Gyno is awkward and embarrassing. I'd much rather see the Gyno than the dentist though.
I'd rather go to the dentist. I love my Gyno, but I still have quite a bit of anxiety before going. I don't really have that anxiety when I go to the dentist.
On a side note, the first time I went to my gynecologist, he asked if I was nervous, and when I said I was, he goes "don't worry, the dentist is way worse!" So I guess there must be a secret battle between gynecologists and dentists a brewin'.
Nah. Dentists and gynecologists have always been compared since both deal in small 'private' areas. Both are necessary evils, but I never knew anyone who was really excited to see either professional. As a hygienist,I have to say that it does get tiresome with all the handholding and reassuring we have to do. 
Honestly, I don't hate either. Yes the gyno is uncomfortable but it doesn't take very long and it's necessary for my heal. And the dentist doesn't freak me out. The new place I go to I can barely feel them cleaning my teeth.
I HATE the gyno! I dont like the dentist, but I like the clean teeth feeling afterwards!! But ugh I cant stand going to the gyno!

gyno? not fun but I don't mind it as much...it also helps that we go there less often!!!!
I don't really mind the dentist, and I've always had nice doctors at the gyno (mostly), but I HATE the part where you have to put your feet in the stirrups - I feel like my legs just don't want to go that way.
Plus I just went for my annual the other day and the swabbing was way more unpleasant than my trips to the dentist; for some reaosn it seemed worse this time around.
Really? The dentist is worse?
I mean, neither is pleasant but....the gyno is no fun. Definitely worse, IMO.
i actually don''t mind either - but with the dentist - maybe i'm weird...but i just had a root canal done a few weeks ago - and no joke, i could seriously have fallen asleep in the chair - it's just sooo comfortable! i'm not joking. :)
My dentist is really mean. I need to find a new one. I actually have an appointment with a different office tomorrow.
My normal primary care doctor serves as my gyno too, and I feel super comfortable with her.
Well if it's just a routine exam/cleaning for gyno/dentist then the gyno is worse! Just because it's awkward to strip down and spread your legs for someone you see once a year. Though if the dentist is a cavity or any kind of oral surgery the dentist is worse.
I love going to the dentist! Granted, my dentist and hygenist (they're married) have been my dentists since I had my first tooth, and they're family friends. Their son is a groomsman! I love my gyno, but I'd much rather go to the dentist!
dentist is by far the worst!
My gyno is pretty cool, so I don't have a problem going. But no matter how much I like my dentist, he's a family friend, I still cringe everytime I have to go!
Awh, as a Dental Hygienist, all you dental haters makes me sad! I don't hate going to the gyno either. Although I'm not overly thrilled to have my hoo-ha swabbed, it's just something I gotta do. Plus my gyno's a cool lady :)
I like how clean my teeth feel AFTER the dentist @toothfairy (btw your name totally makes sense now lol) I'll give you that!
but agh, the dentist is AWFUL! my teeth are all sensitive right now too because I used my crest white strips today....ouches!

The dentist, definitely! I am always avoiding appointments with that guy!
I have a dentist appointment Thursday so maybe my answer will change afterwards, but I HATE going to the gyno. It's been a few years since going to the dentist, but I never really had much a problem with them. Maybe it's because I had such a bad 1st experience with a gyno (17, had a abcess that was painful and needed to be removed. plus the dr. was not so good).
Tell the dentist that because you get so nervous that you need the gas at your appointment. It will help you relax and not focus on the pain or being uncomfortable.
