I voted for 5.5 - it's easily large enough to cook for 4, and once you start going bigger the pots get VERY heavy. I actually use my smaller 2.5 quart one the most (cooking for 2).
Thats interesting. I had been almost sure I'd get the 7.25 so I never feel like what I have is too small, but I also don't want a massive pot I never use because its too big. I suppose I could always get a bigger one down the road if we feel we need it, and 5.5 would suffice for now...
I have a 5.5 Le Creuset French Oven on my registry. I have been told that it is the pot that lasts forever and you will use so much!
We received the 5.5 Le Creuset Oven as a gift. We have yet to use it but damn, it's pretty! All red and bright and so Julia Child!
I voted oval- it lets you do a bird if you want! I just got my first one this weekend at the outlet store, I am waiting for the weekend to use it. I used to sell them though and everyone was always really happy with them. I think the oval is the most versatile because you can fit longer things in without having a huge pot! I especially like my mom's recoipe for a whole roasted chicken in one!
I have a 5.5 quart round and I use it all the time, for everything. Well, not for everything...but that and my LC 10" pan are the 2 stovetop items that get the most use in my house, I think, especially in the colder months when I make tons of soups and curries. Only very, very rarely do I wish I had something larger, and then I use a stock pot. I've never wanted something larger that had to be cast iron. LOVE my Le Creusets!

Help bees! I'm finally taking the plunge and buying a Le Creuset dutch oven with our BB&B gift certificates (using a 20% off online coupon - score!) and am torn on which one to get. I want to go for one that is as versitle as possible, because I can only afford to get one (at least for now.) Right now I'm just cooking for two most of the time, but I like having enough fore leftovers. The three in the poll are the ones I'm considering. Thanks in advance for weighing in!
