Hi, looking for some advice re which type of lipstick/brand to wear on my wedding day please. I have dry, chapped and lined lips and sometimes feel that lipsticks which promise to moisturise lips, highlight my flaws.. maybe thats just the ones I have tried.. So, if you have any recommendations that would be fab 🙂 Thanks

I’m not much of a lipstick wearer myself, but if you want to repair your lips between now and then, I’d recommend Chapstick Medicated. It’s the best thing I’ve ever found OTC.

Try wearing a lip primer under your lipstick. There are several companies that make them. I don’t know of any drugstore brands, although regular chapstick might even work. If you’re willing to spend the money, MAC and Too Faced both have lip primers that I’ve heard good things about. And if it doesn’t work for you, it’s easy to return.

I like my Korres lipbutter, great on the lips and once it starts to wear off there is a great stain of color so you dont have to worry about reapplying it to get rid of that lipstick line you get occasionally.

No advice for lipstick. But in preparation, I’d use carmex and do sugar scrubs. You can just mix a teaspoon or so of sugar with honey or vegetable oil and scrub it on your libs to get any dead skin off. They’ll be super smooth and soft afterwards so any lipstick should work!

Rosebud Salve. You can find it in a blue and white tin at sephora, or go for the strawberry version, which comes in a gold tin (and its yay personal favorite!)

@smallstuff: I have the same problem with chronic dry lips. I’ve recently found a Neosporin brand overnight lip balm that works wonders. I got it at Walgreens for about $5. It says use at night when going to bed and you’ll see notceable results in 3 days.
I also work with a micronized silca gel (think: the stuff that’s in those little packs in your new purse, shoebox or OTC meds; but ground up in a powder form.) This stuff is MADE to dry out stuff/absorb moisture and I’m usually covered in a light dusting of it. I’ve been using this Neosporin brand balm a couple times a day for about a week now and noticed major improvement within 2 days! I never really wore much lipstick before because my lips were always so chapped, but this weekend I was able to wear it to my cousin’s wedding without it getting clumpy and dry.
I highly recommend it!

@smallstuff: As others have said- prep is key. You’re not going to be able to put any kind of lipstick on chapped lips and have it look good. Pick any of the great salve/repair suggestions others have posted (I’ll add my favorite- Sugar by Fresh) and use it every day/night to get your lips supple and smooth before the big day. You can then put a primer on day-of and any good lipstick you use should stick to it!

I don’t know anything about lipstick, but I’d use blistex (from the white and red squeeze tube) multiple times a day to heal your lips before then
