Me and my boyfriend are looking into getting a moissanite engagement ring but I am the most indecisive person and can’t decide which stone I like best. Can you guys please help me out!? Also, which stone do you think looks more “diamond-like”? I’d like people to think its a diamond, sorry!!

I’m not sure but heres a thread with a ton of opinions on the passing it off as a diamond: http://boards.weddingbee.com/topic/passsing-off-moissanite-as-a-diamond

this is a poll I made not so long ago with a very similar poll and some good opinions if it helps! Also if you’re wanting to pass it off as a diamond I’ve heard that the OEC cuts are the same for a diamond and the moissianite so it should look the most similar since the other cuts are different for the different stones. Also, just my two cents here, lots of people get bent out of shape about people passing mossianite off as a diamond, but personally I say whatever floats your boat and don’t be sorry about it! good luck!! 🙂

I understand that OEC cut is the most similar to the diamond. I’ve looked at many pictures of both diamonds and moissanites and they seem to look very similar. If you have it in a vintage looking setting too, it would add to the authentic look 🙂

I think the round brilliant is the least diamond-like of the 3.

I agree with others that the oec looks more diamond like than the rb. The cut of the rb is not the same cut as well cut diamonds. I also think the oec’s chunky sparkle probably looks more like the sparkle of an oec diamond than comparing modern rb cuts. At least that has been my experience. I’ve not seen a cushion irl, but they don’t face up as white so that may or may not be a concern for you (Although an oec with not face up as white as a rb either). As far as passing it off, don’t let people tell you what is and isn’t ok to do. Do whatever you’re comfortable with.

Thanks everyone for your input! I think we are going with the OEC!
