Me and Fiance had decided on flavored fortune cookies in little take away boxes as the favors. The flavors would be blueberry and island punch, to match our turquoise and purple color scheme.
It would cost us about $140 for 70 guests. Which would be about $2 per guest.
I mainly went with it because Fiance hasnt had much imput on the wedding and fortune cookies are one of his favorite snacks, so its one of the only things about the wedding thats for him.
But I was thinking about my first idea for favors… Flavored honey straws. They come in tons of flavors and are cheap. We could either stick with flavors in our colors or have a variety. The best part? We could get 500 of them for only about $50. That would be 7 honey straws for each guest. We could just tape them around to keep them together and then wrap ribbon to cover the tape. Thats roughly 70 cents per guest. So much cheaper.
Which would you rather have as a guest?

@allyfally: i love the idea of the honey sticks. they come in so many colours/flavours.
you can put a bunch in a little clear bag and seal it up with ribbon or a sticker.

@allyfally: The honey sticks are interesting and different…but I’ve never heard of them. So I looked them up and I would have no use for them. I don’t use honey in anything and I also don’t just eat honey. Sorry, just trying to be honest.

@allyfally: Honey straws are certainly cute, but I doubt most people will use them. They’re great if you like tea or REALLY like honey, but that isn’t the majority of Americans.

They’re pretty popular where I grew up. Most people just suck them out of the straw and dont put them in anything. Its not as thick as straight up honey and doesnt taste like plain honey either. You should try them sometime! You can get a sample pack for really cheap.

I voted for honey straws, though I’ve never heard of them before. It must be more of a southern thing? I don’t really like fortune cookies, and have never had flavored ones either.

Ask your FI’s opinion – since he’s been involved in the fortune cookies and it’s been one of the only things he has been involved with, I would worry that changing it he might be offended!
If he’s on board to save the money, then go with the honey straws!

@Britt_RN: It probably is. Almost every touristy place we went on field trips in school sold them in the gift shops.
@missamysmiles: He said it doesnt really matter to him, but he says that about everything wedding related.

@allyfally: Interesting! They sound like a tasty favor to me.

My vote goes for fortune cookies – I hate honey

@allyfally: They certainly look interesting. If they are popular in an area most of your guests are from I guess it won’t come off as weird. Still, since it’s the only thing that reflects your Fiance, I would be hesitent to change it.

I think if you give honey you should at least put a tea bag inside along with it.
I liek that the fortune cookie has some significance though. I would go with that

You might have some guests who wouldn’t use them, but I can tell you I would LOVE honey straws! Especially a bunch of them! Yum!

@allyfally: I LOVE honey straws. There are so many flavors and they are delicious. My H and I get them at a farm that we go to. You just bite the top and suck out the honey. Anyone hating on them should give them a try, they are yummy!
I think they would be great favors.
