I loveeee buttermints! I wonder with nut allergies if many people would eat the almonds? Just a thought.
@Cheeks11: No one in either of our families has nut allergies, thankfully!
When might I want to put these together? Probably closer to the end of November, right? The week-of is the week before finals for me so I won't have time then.
Am I missing out because I have no clue what butter mints are?
@JenniMichele: They're those little pastel after-dinner mints that have a really creamy texture.
I think the combination would bet better. You wouldn't have to make a special bag for the vegan because they can pick out the mints. Plus it would just be so yummy to have both!
@kfricke89: I was leaning toward this as well, though I'd make a special bag for MOH so she wouldn't have to pick them out.
@Treasure43: I do, too! I'm just worried that the mint flavor will rub off on the almonds or something.
I'm adding an option to the poll for treats other than the two I listed. :)
I've never heard of either...are they regional?
I selected other. Maybe give the guests a bag and allow them to put whatever they wanted in them? Kind of like a mini candy buffet? I am personally going with the candy buffet....so I am a lil biased lol. I just like the idea of letting the guest select what they want for themselves. May give them a few options to choose from? the nuts, butter mints, and m&ms? you could get the really cute customizable m&ms....I really like that idea personally lol. hope this helps.
I definatly wouldn't combine them in case you end up with minty almonds, ick!
I like Jordan almonds AND buttered mints. But I voted for "other" because they are so common at weddings, and I really like the idea of giving something more unique - especially a regional treat. Where are you getting married? Will some of your guests be from outside of the area?
Butter mints are freaking delicious! HAHA - obviously, that's my vote :)
I voted for the almonds. :) I'm not a huge fan of butter mints though. The "other" I would have suggested would be another type of candied nut. Maybe those amazing candied walnuts or pecans like they sell at winter festivals.
I voted for 'other'. I'm a sucker for chocolate of any kind ;-)
i personally prefer jordan almonds, but the butter mints always seem to be a big hit
I voted for the Jordan Almonds but am also partial to the mini "candy bar" option where folks can choose their own.
I'd prefer the mints of those choices (they are available for sale everywhere even if they aren't served at weddings). Then again, I don't know anyone who likes Jordan almonds (those who do like almonds prefer them plain without the risk of breaking a tooth).

FH and I are playing with the idea of making little green cellophane bags full of either jordan almonds or butter mints and tying them with a purple ribbon (our colors are purple and green, and we already have a huge roll of green cellophane).
We have a vegan guest (my MOH) which is why we were leaning toward the almonds, but we do love butter mints, too! If we did the mints, we'd still make a little bag of the almonds for her, but I'm curious: which would you prefer?
None of our guests have nut allergies, for the record. :)
