@truetexanbee:  a jeweler can probably change out the whole head to accommodate a princess diamond 🙂 I like the idea of using your friend’s ring!!

@truetexanbee:  I like the idea of using the ring you already have, but I’d price out similarly sized diamonds before making up your mind. If your budget is $1000, you’ll get far smaller finger coverage than the blue topaz provides.

It’s not difficult to change the head on a plain ring like that.

However, I may be alone in saying this but I think it’s a little strange to use a ring from your best friend as your engagement ring from your husband.

Honestly I would not purchase from Zales. Their quality is HORRIBLE and very over priced. If you want a princess cut ring I think you could find better via James Allen. This is just an example: but this stone is a .46 princess cut for $840 http://www.jamesallen.com/loose-diamonds/princess-cut/0.46-carat-i-color-vs2-clarity-sku-215243

and you can get settings for less than 400 to pair with it like this:

I’m $20 over budget but you can find a lot of good options elsewhere besides zales!

I think using a ring from your friend is a little…odd.

You can do a lot with 1k if you shop around!

@truetexanbee:  A rectangular radiant cut would work if you want to use the ring from your friend without changing out the head.

I didn’t vote on your poll, I think you should keep looking for a ring.

@truetexanbee:  PS: this is what a radiant looks like, perfect if you love princess cuts but want an elongated stone.

@truetexanbee:  You might have to add gold to the band as after years of wear the gold wears down. I would just shop a lot before you make decisions. Sometimes its more expensive to change a ring than make a new one
