- Wedding: May 2015
We are starting the planning process and decided on winter while we wait for the engagement/proposal. We are both planners so we want to know possible expenses we will encounter so we can budget in the next few years. We wil be moving to both take fulltime positions so it would be good for expense planning and apartment hunting to know how much we will need for everything. We have a few options we were looking at but the prices are getting up there and it seems that trying for 5K at a chicago resturant isnt going to be happening. We know ideally under 15K is the maximum we want to pay for everything and can get better deals else where for other expenses such as a sale dress or preowned. We definitely want a sit down meal as it will be one of the few times we will have all of our family together. We are getting minimums of $6,300 or $130-195 per person.
1. Noon Ceremony with late afternoon lunch reception with no alcohol. Break for people to explore with cocktails, full bar, at the hotel with desserts to finish the night off.
2. Late afternoon ceremony, early eavening cocktails followed by dinner with just wine and beer. Possible after party at the hotel lounge with bridal party.
3. Early evening ceremony with cocktails served as guests arrive. Dinner with wine and beer. No after party.
4. Noon ceremony, late lunch with cake, wine and beer. Dinner with just siblings and family. After party with friends.
We will have 30ish guests, 18 of them in the bridal party, 16 people will be family. Which option would you enjoy the most. Most people would be driving in 3-6 hours for the wedding so we would like to enjoy the day with them as much as possible. Since the list is already small we dont want to possibly exclude someone and them have nothing to do but sit in their hotel room. We are also trying to keep everything within a certain area so they can take taxi’s from each and not spend more than a few dollars but also within distance of the train so if they stay in the suburbs they dont have to pay the high price of chicago parking. Would we be expected to pick up the tab for the afterparty, I dont mean cocktails and cake but rather a late night run at the bars with a group of friends.
